So where are we at the moment?

Madge still cannot coach? Just getting lucky?

To me it looks like they were bottling it once the whistle blew, and finally a general glued them all together...

Feeble minds needed to believe in someone out there. Leaders are born, skills are coached.

We dont look all that unskilled with a leader on the pitch.
Madge may not be a master tactician but he knows how to build Men and a culture.

I am happy he is here cause we been chasing sustained success for 22 years.

Its not about the two wins, its the manner in which they have been done.

Playing for 80 mins, high completions, defending like mad men, chasing everything and celebrating like a true team.

Thats effort that cant be coached.

I’m not sure why but in my head I just carnt picture any 1 els as been the west tigers coach

He is not perfect but as i have said before he is the right coach to put the right culture and belief into our club.It is tough to take and undoubtedly we will have more crashes but he is what we desperately need to achieve long term success

A patchwork team with a true leader on the field if some can't see the difference that it makes to the function of the team they never will. We are still minus the quality that is needed to mix it with the best, but the commitment and effort to do the simple things right has got us over the line the last two weeks against two more fancied sides.
Some of our execution in attack is still really lacking and yes, we lack a few class players, but our halves are leading the way and the effort can’t be faulted. Hats off to the coaching staff. Really hope the club can go out and add a bit of quality to replace departing talent.

I've been probably the biggest critic of maguire, but I'm prepared to give him the credit for the turnaround, my main gripe was his selections, the team and brooksy look so much better with his move to 5/8 something maguire should have done ages ago...but well done madge

Let’s not forget we didn’t have a strong leader to play HB until rd 1. He then missed 3 weeks. Class players make a difference.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves... two weeks ago I had never seen us play worse football.

Making the 8 is still the only way Madge should keep his job. He's bought himself a bit more time for now

Got a question for you guys, we now seem to have an excellent half 5/8 combination in brooks n Hastings, question is what does maguire do with douhie?

Super sub. He is good at a few positions, but not a master at any. That is not a slur, some of the games most celebrated players had these attributes. His value is as a reliable Mr fixit.

I do think that's forgotten.. In the 1st 2 games against the Storm especially Hastings was the guy..

The combo must be given time...
They are both NRL quality halves and the club now needs to get them some better weapons. Mind you some of the current squad have lifted. Let’s hope the improvements continue.

We played like this in round 1.
We had Melbourne on the rack but just didn’t find the knockout blow. I think our poor bench rotation lost us that game in the back end as they exploited our tired middle.
Game 2 was an anomaly. No one showed up for some bloody reason.
Games 6 and 7 speak for themselves.
All in all, the Hastings/Brooks combo has played 4 games and were great for 5.5 out of 8 halves of footy. Imagine when they get fully settled….

Imagine when Api comes in and creates more space around the ruck with Stefano running into it then Hastings and brooks out the back with cut out balls to doughi in the centre position

Hastings is a gun. He was one of our best players last night and I reckon he has a lot of improvement in him.

How good is he backing up everyone - the coach & Brooks especially.

I agree with you in that Brooksy is better with less responsibility and he isn't a great game manager.

The thing is Brooks has been our best option at 7. We haven't had any other option.

Hastings makes a massive difference.

I know it's only a couple of good performances but given the difference in the quality of the teams they have been up against the difference he has made to the team in those two wins is remarkable. I don't know if it can be sustained with injuries and lack of depth, but anyone who undervalued leadership on the field can now surely see how essential it is.
