Jackson Hastings #251

Hard to disagree with that based on history with roosters signings (although I thought walker was developing well?)

Did you see the Matty Johns interview? I’m not sure he’s 100% playing under his estranged fathers shadow.
I did see it. I have a feeling roosters aren’t completely sold on walker. For mine Hastings has the potential to be better. I hope we lock up Hastings soon.

Obviously you can never say never, but personally as long as our trajectory is up and we pay him accordingly, i feel like Jacko would stay.

As for the whole halves dilemma, it's not really a dilemma at all. Hastings and Brooks is working. Why muck around with it? If you go through the comp the successful halves compliment each other. Cleary and Luai, DCE and Foran, Hughes and Munster and up until this year Reynolds and Walker. Of course our guys are only 2 games old and it's too early to call it a success, but so far it is working. The only way it gets broken is by injury, suspension or form loss.
How does anyone know Doueihi is a better 5/8 than Brooks at this point? He was in and out of games last year like everyone else in the team. Brooks has had 2 games there against last years Grand Finalist and another top 4 side for 2 wins. The wheels could fall off just as quickly, but while ever they keep turning over for victories I highly doubt Madge would disrupt it. The rest of team seems to enjoy him playing there as well if the dressing room scenes were anything to go by.

Did u see our completion rate, there's gonna be some errors when they actually play some attacking footy.

I don't get people jumping on every error he makes.
That is the issue and hopefully ceasing. Brooks kicked into the ingoal and if it went dead it was bordering on capital punishment time, yet when Hastings, Doueihi and even Madden did the same, the response was more like they are trying something.

Even as one of his supporters, I left Brooks out if the 3,2,1 because of those passes, else he would have been vying for my two behind Nofoaluma. I am glad though that so many others have moved past the above and had Luke amongst their best.

Hastings is a competitor, though a look through our games to see who is still chasing and putting people on their arse in the 80th minute shows there is no greater competitor than Brooks. Even Alex Twal.

I noted that just before the team left the sheds and I had the game on kayo,Hastings was very vocal in the huddle, the team listened, it was an observation that may be a frequent ocourance in the coming weeks...
If it wasnt for injuries and Hastings suspension I can conservatively say we would have been 5/7 as of now,it is what it is though....play on...
If Madge splits Jacko and Luke just to put AD in 5/8 it could be our downfall...
Hastings a true halfback, team controller and leader....
Brooks a running 5/8,great defender a natural runner and passer of the ball...
AD solid player but Im yet to know what his specialist position is...he is a great fill in 5/8,centre fullback....but what is his specialist position....we all know Jackos and Lukes..

Well said. And add the storm and knights games to evaluate them and it is 3/4 good performances.

Not only do they compliment each other, they also take the pressure off the other, with the likes of Cam Murray not being able to target one without preventing the other from getting on with the job.

One gives the voice and direction, along with injecting himself as necessary, whilst the other gets on with the bread and butter kicking and provides the very important ingredient of pace. A combination of skills.

Adam strolls back into the team, but barring injury, not in the halves for mine.

They compliment each other well, And as an overall monetary value - They're on par with most clubs...
Both need to be extended for a couple more years on closer to market value for both.
Would like to think that Brooksy will remain loyal and would like to be a one team player and as a result would take a bit of a pay cut so that Jackson can be rewarded appropriately without trashing the cap.

One thing that hasn't been noted on the Brooks - Hastings combo is the personalities....
I think their personalities also match, Brooks seems to be a great lieutenant
- And Jacko seems to bring what Brooks lacks personality wise...

I wonder if AD's personality would work the same with Jacko... Or if it would work as good...
I'm not so sure - Both are very dominant personalities...

What lol?

I made a comment earlier about Jacko in the sheds prior to kickoff against Souths....I stated that he spoke in the huddle and the team listened,I should also point out that the one guy who nodded yes and clapped was none other than James Tamou,he is an experienced NRL player and he also put in a great performance that night....
So it got me to thinking what is going on here,Jacko isnt in the leadership group,he hasnt got the (C ) against his name and he has been put into the 7 position and Luke into the 6...
So further thinking has me deciding that what is happening before our eyes is,because the youth in the team need leadership Madge decided to go with 5 leaders who can all contribute with help in varying positions while giving them some type of authority as well to keep them interested so to speak...He also took the pressure off Luke as far as controlling the team and gave it to Hastings who is a master at it and Luke can play his free running game which is his best asset....
In my final deciding moment I think that this all points to Hastings becoming our Captain next year after our new guys arrive and others depart..To me it is leading to a very stable team with a great play maker at the helm and a far better culture than ever before, what we are going through is more or less of a tidy up of some loose ends and 2023 will be an awesome experience for us and the team....

I think you should put personalities aside for a moment batboy, they have plenty of time to sort that out in training, once out there they have to do their job one way or another..
Brooks has a personality suited to being a shy quiet type.....doesnt work when you need to give orders and yell at players....
Jackon has that personality on the field where it counts and doesnt mind telling any of the players what to do or where to go....but has a very mature personality on and off the field...
AD seems a quiet do my job type ....its yet to be seen if he can command the team around the park, its all well and good to be the go to man but he has to do his job whatever that will be,centre, fullback or bench....

Coming to Australia, Jacko was very open about how excited he was to play with AD.

Hastings unlocks Brooks game but if you watch the games closely, albeit Brooks plays better at 6 than 7 still lacks some polish to his game.

I think its too late to expect him to be Munster.... or that level, but the passes to nobody and the poor kicks were still evident.

Credit where it's due though, the field goal was outstanding and the 6 is what we've all known is his natural position.... having only officially played 2 games in the jersey I'd expect him to improve as the year goes on...

I'd leave this halves pairing as it is. For now...
AD to centre or bench and we'll see how things work out in training.

Maybe Brooks to hooker and AD to 6 towards the end of the game, easing Adam back into the game post injury.
