Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’d very much look at getting Josh Schuster in as a ball playing lock, I reckon he’d be as good as Radley and Yeo in that regard once he grows into his body more.

So talented and will never play 6 at Manly especially with the younger Fainu brother coming up through there ranks, he won’t stay at Manly after being lied too

Wants to get his hands on the ball more and is wasted out wide, would be a very good 13 but a shame they have Jake Trobejvic there instead

No brainer for me I’d even bring him in as a 6 next to Hastings if Brooks drops off (hope not)

Geez, he is talented, but Shuster's potential contribution would be very much dulled by the defensive load playing at lock for mine. Jake has a big motor and even his game has lost most of it's former zip playing in the 13, instead of then more rested interchanged player with great footwork, a fantastic offload and ball playing ability.

Saw your name in the recent post list and was hoping you might have come up with another Tedesco signing level scoop.

On that front, we could do with another Laurie signing type scoop from @compensate

There’s whispers that it may go down that way, would be a huge coup. Only noise at this stage.
That would be fantastic but I don't see it happening. They've got Schuster signed through to 2024 and aren't exactly flush with depth in the 2nd row, plus he's good depth at 5/8 (in fact he'd be better than Foran at 5/8, hence he's cracked it).

Agree totally here. He would be a great signing … berry than Bird and Niko put together.

I wonder if it is not just the possibility of Foran resigning but also the fact Manly had him penned as their back rower last year and have since signed Bullemor, Kelma and will possibly resign Davey.
Wonder if he feels like there is no position for him 5/8 or backrow.

They just signed Kelma for next year, waiting on 2 back from injury and it’s definitely a Turbo/DCE combo going forward… no space for him there?

Yeah totally understand your point re the defensive side, I can see him potentially developing and getting that motor defensively as he’s still only 20 and his shift to second row has been good so far and he makes around 25-30 tackles a game including 35 in the prelim last year. Adapted well there and contributed attacking wise, Madge could get him fit to be that kinda player.

Playing Schuster as a third half, could have enormous benefit to our spines space. Especially space to players like Hastings and Brooks….. and Korisau coming next year.

So i think he has it in him to be that player and let’s not forget he’s 20………

Missed out when he was off contract, mainly due to Manly lying to him saying they’d play him 6.

Schuster will leave if he’s not playing 6 next year based on principle alone, kid is a superstar.

Seems like there’s no Tedesco level scoops incoming for us yet hahaha

I don't see why they wouldn't have Schuster and Olakau'atu as the starting 2nd rowers. I don't see Tuilagi being the player Schuster is.
I see what your concern is saying, but that simply isn’t our concern. Opportunity knocks once, and has spoken to Manly’s key weaknesses around cap mgmt and choices - through the use of his/our player agent…

This is how the transfer rumour/s came about

It still mightn’t happen
