Re people saying he left Salford for Wigan...he actually stayed an extra year, and the pommy comp is VERY different.

Salford's budget would be 1/4 of Wigan's, maybe less.

No one is staying at Salford if Wigan come knocking.

Much like no one staying at the Tigers if the Roosters come knocking....
A little different as there is at least some notion of a cap in the NRL.

In the UK SL, there is not. NRL clubs have to spend 95% of the cap, in the UK there is no min.

I.e. a club like Salford operate on about 1/3 of Wigan's cap.

I know how it works there....
I also well know how it works here.

I stand by what I said...

At the bones of it, It's a rich high end club raiding the best player from a low end less successful club.
The points you've noted, Whilst factual - Don't stop that happening in any comp, any sport - anywhere...

Fairly sure they saw Stefano as a JWH long term replacement.

And Stefano stayed.

I think Hastings will also if we sort out a long term extension as a priority.

Are you sure? - Last I checked Lindsay Collins is an Origin Winning Prop!! - On the up...

And Stefano hasn't even played Origin.

DT saying Hastings current deal is 2 years @ around $1m. Would now command $750k a season on the open market

You know that’s not bad for a starting half.
It’s terrible though if we signed Jacko as a utility to replace Billy Walters as first suggested.
I never thought he was coming here for less than that.
Thankfully the risk came off but bugger me $500k is a lot to gamble on potential.

As a halves combo it evens us up a bit cap wise as well...
One is overpaid - One is underpaid...
Brings them both back to even us up.

Hopefully we can extend them both a bit and re-align them closer to where they need to be.

He is good at getting middle forwards running wider. It's why he is having so many touches per game. He is getting Musgrove, Tamou, and Twal to run into space. Doing this means the defence normally has to make a legs tackle, or worst case scenario, there will only be one main tackler, while the other 1-2 guys can only chop the legs or try to quickly bring the ball carrier to ground.

Less wrestle from opposition defences, faster PTBs, defence shifting around leading to more fatigue, all good things.
