Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

In 2023 could WT get away with the following backline as I believe our forward pack is building up nicely.

Laurie
Nofoaluma
Doueihi
To'a
Maumalo

Brooks
Hastings

Back Ups - Kepaoa, Tommy Talau and Gildart.

Hopefully we can sign Dykes to cover fullback and maybe the young Eels winger someone on this forum alluded to as a potential signing.

Chance Christ! We must have some short fans if they think this guy is 6’3.
Why do they embellish these measurements so much?
I can’t see him debuting in 2023, especially in the forwards. Don’t want to break him. Sounds very talented by all reports. I think there are one or two backrowers that are more advanced in their development than Harry OKane.
For what its worth I’d go hard for Angus C on a 3 year deal. There is a chance, he is the best out of all others mentioned.

If what has been reported on this forum that the Roosters are refusing to pay his asking price, I believe that is more than enough to walk away. He's had a hard career and paying more than top dollar when the Roosters won't pay it doesn't seem to be smart recruitment.

Angus is only 26 years old and played 125 NRL games between Souths and Easts. He has won two premierships.

One of the comps elite Second Rowers and has played 9 games for NSW.

Forwards in general get better with age so unless it is insane money he is after I would offer him a 3 years contract whilst our development players have time to develop their games and grow into their bodies.

I can only see positives with his signing and would give us a great second row combination. Also someone of his standing in the game would give WT some credibility and hopefully become a club players want to come to.

Let's sign him up.

But but some prefer we just keep Seyfarth over getting him....

I would like Taylan May, Isaiah Tass and Crichton from that group... Happy with Nikora, but would hope to get Crichton first if they are both on the same $$$

I’m a massive Angus fan and I’d love him but not at the expense of O kane, this kid is literally Angus 2.0 they both are very similar players with the same rugby background, he is a future gun edge I rate him very highly. The good thing about guys like Papalii and Blore is that they can easily shift into the mids, so I do believe we have room for one of Angus or Nikora but again we gotta get the salary cap right and make sure we don’t block this young brigade we having coming through. Tamou is not wrong when comparing us to Penrith, we have an elite crop of young boys coming through, the task is making sure we keep them.

Need to be careful overrating our juniors. Angus is a premiership winner and an origin player. O'Kane missed 11 tackles in his NSW cup debut this year and was subsequently dropped back to Flegg. He's only young so he'll improve in the next couple of years, and might make it, but I think those expectations are a little high at this stage.

Don't think he was ever coming here. And tbh probably a good thing as he's not worth what we were rumoured to be offering.

Let's go all in for Angus

I agree and i would make the same comment about all young players as the step up to NRL level is massive.Over the years i have watched countless young blokes pushing their way through junior reps who you could almost guarantee for first grade, sadly most don't make it
