The Chinese are really pushing it aren't they. I heard some Chinese immigrants talking about voting and they said they wanted good relationships with China.

How is that possible ?
Australia (and many other western allies) tends to play the international power game with the 3 or 4 year election cycle as the end point. And btw we are a lightweight.

China has always played the game with a much longer strategy - like 100 years? Who do you think wins in the end? Like Ukraine at the moment it depends on resolve.

I think China 'playing the long game' is a bit of a cliche now. Xi Jinping's leadership can be idiotic at times, and unfortunately for China they are stuck with him for life.

We are a lightweight. I find it hilarious to think we can somehow manage China. We need alliances.

I'm not worried about China thinking long term. I hope they don't start trying to invade other countries. They are buying places like the Solomon islands. I hope they don't push it any further than that.

Yeah, sort of agree on the cliche thing. Xi Jinping is between a rock and a hard place at the moment but is playing it cool. He can't go all in with Putin - that would be stupid - but can't afford to piss him off entirely.

China has become that communist country that "suddenly" realises that if you have an economy that rewards effort you earn foreign dollars. When they opened up their economy and allowed some sort of free enterprise the living standards of the whole country lifted.

Interesting to see where this goes - more so with China than Russia.

Yes they definitely discovered that from Deng Xiaoping onwards but I think they have regressed under Xinping, he is a lot more ideological and repressive than his immediate predecessors, and on foreign policy he is a straight up dunce. He repeatedly does dumb stuff - like sending a bunch of soldiers with sticks across the Indian border which achieved nothing other than stir up anti-Chinese sentiment in India. Or now committing economic suicide in cities like Shanghai just to save face. China does not have a bright future under him.

Macquarie Uni. What about you ?

Your a facts man - tell us all about your education ?
Ultimo TAFE for my trade certificate. Granville TAFE for my HVACR engineers ticket. Difference between me and you is I don't think I'm better than the other for having attended university. Paul Keating was PM and left school at 14, a uni degree is not necessarily an indicator of one's ability to critically think or display independent thought. Some of the smartest blokes I've met don't have a uni education.

I agree. But who is going to REALLY tell him?

You two? lol. Put the dicks away.

I've known dumb graduates, very smart dunces (my current boss who could buy and sell us all lol) and everything in-between. There's only one test - and it's not academic.

I might sound like Bambi lol, but if you look after those you care about, and even care about those you disagree with and have never met, life is good. If you've got more than you need why do you need more? Enjoy what you've got, share what you don't need and just enjoy what time you've got left. 'Cause it's not a very long time.

Quoting myself lol, do I sound like a communist?

It cannot commence until the chest beating stops. Such should occur come Sunday week. This shit playing out in public has been to our detriment for a few years now, crippling some sectors for political gain.

No problem with heated diplomatic discussions, but sending out Hastie and the likes to scream out in public doesn't work for the nation's commerce and if anything, further threatens our security.

As Paws alluded to earlier, my first thoughts when Dutton started speaking today were, really, this is nothing new, just normal practice for them and our allies. Then thinking is this the priming for another bullshit story such as Howard and Reith's children overboard or searching to see if the Tampa is still sailing.

Would not surprise if the coalition once again stooped to such depths to retain power.
