Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Burton is definitely an interesting option to consider going forward, especially if he doesn't exercise his option. Brooks' money frees up at the end of 2023 so we could roll a good amount of that into Burton. Burton and Hastings could be a very good pairing on opposite sides of the field. I feel Burton's struggled a bit having to play more first receiver at the Dogs, stifling his running and ball playing. Having someone like Hastings run the show and let Burton focus on his kicking and running game would be huge.

It's essential we put Doueihi in the 6 as soon as possible and Brooks in the 14 to see if there's long-term potential in that. If Doueihi + Hastings works, great. If not, then we could have a ready made 6 to step in and shift Doueihi to the centres.
you move Brooks and Douhie on and go after Burton
your backup is Madden
You then have money left to go after a Stephen Crichton

Supercoach lol

Probably have to pay for the contracted players to play elsewhere.

Bankrupt the cap.
Wouldn't even break even.
if Brooks is on say 850k
Douhie 600k
what is Burton currently on its 500k or 550k
that leaves plenty of money left for Stephen Crichton
or they keep douhie play him 6 and Burton 1

Doueihi is going nowhere. captain of the club until he retires. Dykes, Laurie and Cathane Hill are our long term fullback options and Camroux will most likely take Madden's role if he wants to chase regular first grade.

The club will officially offer Angus Crichton a 3 year contract this week worth close to $2.2million over the span of the contract, sticking point will be the issue of who will be coach as we are main attraction to him to be back under Madge.

Also Doueihi is being put through his paces today & has an appointment this afternoon with a specialist to be cleared to play this Friday.

Luke Brooks early indication is grade 1 hamstring 2-4 weeks.

The talk of Franklin Pele is new to anyone at the club, his management last informed the club he had better offers elsewhere.

Club also trying to fast track a move for Kade Dykes this week, they want him at the club before the bye round. 2023 terms agreed upon.
Thanks Po[m for the good news.

No one's taking those contracts.
We'd be chipping in.

Bad business.

Best we can hope for is some one takes Brooks contract at 50-60% for his final year and we work to strengthen the roster by signing Angus. Some centres and some other backrowers and a prop.

150k a year is huge money to a 17 year old kid. It's a balls out move from the Dolphins. Running over the top of 16/17 year olds doesn't necessarily mean it will happen in the NRL otherwise we'd be fondly recalling the Matt Groat NRL domination. For a playmaker maybe you roll the dice but wow it's a bold move to spend that on a Harold Matthews prop.
Seen it plenty of times, but plenty of good judges rate this kid as one out of the box, so maybe it is worth the dollars. Anyway at this stage the priority ha so be fixing the side for 2023 so we have a real top eight team for once

No thanks. This place is better without the likes of power hungry mods like Willow
1000% false. Why Kul listened to a handful of complaining idiots rather than the 95% of members who were happy is beyond comprehension.
And you're opinion doesn't carry any weight, how many times have you participated in the forum? A handful of times?

It may be an opportunity for the young fellow to set himself and his family up. It is a lot of money but we may have other Jordan Miller's in the huge catchment area. We just have to be first to identify and retain them.

Players only show Loyalty when they are given Royalty (extra cash)

In terms of a players income, when another club offers him what seems like Royalty then the pressures of holding on to Loyalty at his current club would mostly become to appear as trivial.

With the very high cost of living today most of these young players would take the higher offers without thinking twice.

And i don't believe that those players who claimed to have shown their club Loyalty and accepted paycuts in the past, maybe one or two but certainly not the majority of them.

Thanks Pom always good to get updates from you , the club has 2 targets in Dykes and Angus but I would have thought we were looking at more players as I think we will loose these guys
Kel , Lucy , Big Tom , Garner , Roberts , Jacob Liddle , Tuki Simkins , that’s 8 , we have 2 new players secured and only chasing 2 , seems about 4 short , Prop , Centre , and some

I wonder if we had of kept MBye for just this year whether we would of been a little bit more competitive in games we had to play Madden. Every chance we would of beaten the Dragons too as MBye was probably the difference in that game.
So we’d kinda be better off next year by not having Peachey’s contract in 23 and probably would of had won a couple more games.
And in case anyone is thinking I’m crazy, the amount of try saving tackles Mbye made in the game v Dragons was the difference.

Agree mate thats stupid money, it may pay off in time but its a pretty big throw of the dart at this age.

Laulilii brothers are already contracted for 2023.
So we left Miller uncontracted for next season despite his form and potential? That's poor management. Why would you lock up other players but leave your star exposed?!
Hopefully the club can convince him to stay and that good things will come in time

I've been here since 1972.
I'm a Legend.
I said punt Willow.

Can I ask, as I know you’ve watched more juniors than me. Was Miller a star before this season?

Burton still has 1 year to go as well, so could be a direct replacement for Brooks in 24.

I’m not a Brooks hater but if you can replace him with Burton on the same money it’s a no brainer.

And before anyone tries to burst my bubble, just let me dream for a bit please.
