Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No one's taking those contracts.
We'd be chipping in.

Bad business.

Best we can hope for is some one takes Brooks contract at 50-60% for his final year and we work to strengthen the roster by signing Angus. Some centres and some other backrowers and a prop.

You'd want to make sure you've got some other halves stitched up after the end of next year before you go selling any....

There's a couple NRL clubs that are still short on Halves and another team coming in next year!!

Burton still has 1 year to go as well, so could be a direct replacement for Brooks in 24.

I’m not a Brooks hater but if you can replace him with Burton on the same money it’s a no brainer.

And before anyone tries to burst my bubble, just let me dream for a bit please.

Burton is a strange one for me - Even at the Panthers, He wasn't as good in the Halves as he was at centre...

Here is a kid that could play for his State - possibly his country at Centre and have a very good career there.... Or Struggle in the halves at all the other clubs.

He's got some choices to make....

What about left side right side formation with Hastings 13, Burton 6 and Douehi 7.
Could there be a bigger halves pairing in the comp?

The club will officially offer Angus Crichton a 3 year contract this week worth close to $2.2million over the span of the contract, sticking point will be the issue of who will be coach as we are main attraction to him to be back under Madge.

Also Doueihi is being put through his paces today & has an appointment this afternoon with a specialist to be cleared to play this Friday.

Luke Brooks early indication is grade 1 hamstring 2-4 weeks.

The talk of Franklin Pele is new to anyone at the club, his management last informed the club he had better offers elsewhere.

Club also trying to fast track a move for Kade Dykes this week, they want him at the club before the bye round. 2023 terms agreed upon.
Honestly, if Chricton will come for Madge...and Hastings has said he wants to play forever for Madge...then just get it done.

Give them the assurances they need and get them signed.

So we left Miller uncontracted for next season despite his form and potential? That's poor management. Why would you lock up other players but leave your star exposed?!
Hopefully the club can convince him to stay and that good things will come in time

How many of the other do you lose or put out if you pay him crazy overs?

That said, Development deal is 80k a year minimum (Outside the cap) isn't it?
It's not too far a stretch from there to where the Dolphins are

If He's as good as they say he is (I've not seen him)

You just can’t ignore how good his kicking game could be. He has the potential to have one of the best in the comp. If I was him I’d be kicking across the ground every set. He has enough strength in his legs and fullbacks only mark the kickers side, it would drop the wingers back every 4,5th tackle and open up space for a shift or space for space in the middle. Once he learns what he can achieve with his boot he could be one of the best halves in the comp.

1000% false. Why Kul listened to a handful of complaining idiots rather than the 95% of members who were happy is beyond comprehension.
And you're opinion doesn't carry any weight, how many times have you participated in the forum? A handful of times?
Kul should only listen to feedback from Legends, they've earned the right to be heard
Who are these legends you speak of and how was such status achieved?

give Angus the assurance he wants. the playing group is clearly responding to Madge and with Papa, Koroisau and now potentially Angus making the switch plus our players returning from injury we are going to be a Top 4 calibre side.
Top 8 maybe. Still a few recruits away from top 4.

great update.
Can you tell the club to keep this out of the media? I don’t want other clubs thinking that Angus isn’t heading back to rugby.
Hopefully it can be done and announced just like Api and Papali were.
To be honest not alot of clubs have space in their cap next year apart from a few including dolphins.

I think Madge and the coaching staff have shown enough for me to get a new contract if it gets Chrichton as well. We have improved alot and now just need a full strength team to show what we can do.

Burton is definitely an interesting option to consider going forward, especially if he doesn't exercise his option. Brooks' money frees up at the end of 2023 so we could roll a good amount of that into Burton. Burton and Hastings could be a very good pairing on opposite sides of the field. I feel Burton's struggled a bit having to play more first receiver at the Dogs, stifling his running and ball playing. Having someone like Hastings run the show and let Burton focus on his kicking and running game would be huge.

It's essential we put Doueihi in the 6 as soon as possible and Brooks in the 14 to see if there's long-term potential in that. If Doueihi + Hastings works, great. If not, then we could have a ready made 6 to step in and shift Doueihi to the centres.
I don’t like Doueihi in the centres…slow laterally and defensively suspect.
Ive mentioned it before, but Brooks would make a good centre - especially if we employed and inside centre styled role play to his game. He would be licensed to kick, ball play and run. His defence is not an issue and he is quick off the mark.
This move is also not unprecedented with Shaun Berrigan succeeding there for the Broncs.
