Short term phenomenon.

Teal voters will only stick to them so long as their wealth and relative isolation isn't affected. They love all the big changes as long as it's something that they see on T.V. not something in their neighborhood.

After 1 term some changes may come back to bite them on the bum.

Their social conscience will harden.

As for other Green seats some of those urban dwellers may be grappling with falling house prices, unemployment and rising rates by next election and they will be forcced to be more pragmatic.

may well bring the seats back not from Labor but the teal independents

This is what the libs need to do but it means becoming environmentally and socially conscious. That goes against the Nationals.

It's a pickle right.

I heard I think the ex finance minister speak and he said maybe they have to stop worrying about winning but instead worry about serving their constituents. That to me is like stating no more coalition but that means no more serving government unless they do a deal with the teal independents.

I suppose you could go the other way but voters like myself voted this time when we typically don't and it's more about being against that far right BS. I think if the libs go the far right path they will be a non-entity going forward.

Until the LNP take climate change seriously and actively address the issue they will make little or no impact on the independant seats.Yes the libs treatment of women has been disgraceful but climate change is the key point and this will only get more pronounced as younger people get the opportunity to vote.
I doubt if Mr Potato Head has the intelligence to realise that as he is still trying to make China the enemy
Biden may force him to make them an enemy.

He may have some latitude at the margins.

We shall see how Albo comes back from Tokyo .

Congratulations on having the most irrational post in the politics thread.Biden is a long way from being radical left. What your comments show is that you are so far right wing it is scary
You are far left delusional if you don't see that Biden is being led around by a nose ring by the far left of the party and its scary that you don't see it champ

Watched a pretty funny video on YouTube when someone asked him if Putin was a war criminal?

He said emphatically “NO!”

Then came back around and said “wait what did you ask me again?”

Then replied “YES!”

This is a good article.

Does it (as many moderates believe it should) evolve towards becoming a more socially progressive party with strong and credible aspirations on climate and women, while returning to a more conventional small “L” liberal, free-market economic policy?

Biden is a sundowner. The US will not have our back in a fight with China. Our best bet is to remain neutral. Unnecessarily antagonising our biggest trading partner and regional superpower is not good diplomacy.

Those seats will stay Teal as long as the status quo is not affected.

They are all just environmentally conscious liberals.

Can someone explain the appeal of One Nation to me?

My mates tell me it's just racist boomers. Is it as simple as that?
That and I think some voters are on board with the LNP with social issues but not economic issues - i.e oppose Thatcherite free market, support tariffs etc. That was a big part of Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's base in the US.

Some may be racist.

Some may feel like things are changing to quickly and they have no voice..

Others may feel that regardless of race and culture the predominant way of life must be promoted as the Australia that they new existed that is new Australians must make an effort to assimilate.

Others may feel that Australian nationals had no say in the future direction of the country and have been marginalized.

I didn't vote for them but their may be some merit in aspects of their views.

For example, during the recent by election there were numerous candidates in my seat mostly of Asian descent and one particular candidate had their leaflets and posters only written in I presume Chinese characters. Now I think that should be against the law. It is also a type a rascism. That could be construed by some as an exclusion of other Australians and a promotion of I'm guessing Chinese values.

I ended voting for another Asian independent candidate who's policies I preferred and I could read them.
