Plans for the good life

Retiring in December, moving from Sydney to regional Victoria, wife is from Victoria and is keen to get back there, she is also a keen prospector and we will be within easy reach of all the Victorian goldfields.

The wife has endured 25 years living in Sydney and the Sydney of today is not the place I grew up in so time to get out and make the wife happy in her home state.
Awesome mate, I would love to go prospecting. You'd be mad to retire in Sydney, so good choice.

I’ve started to head to retirement , I moved for Western Sydney to Bribie Island QLD 3 years ago , wifes family lived hear for past 28 years so we decided to head on up , sold out and haven’t looked back , so far Traveled from Sydney to Townsville by car ( Road Trip ) stopping in all major towns and smaller ones will def do more of Australia but we have travelled to Singapore , Thailand , Kuala Lumpur , Langkawi , love the food and islands and will be doing Chiang Mai 5 days , Koh Samui 5 days and Phuket 10 days next trip in October Fingers crossed , I will be doing vidoes of the trips to see how that goes , always wanted to do it so going to have a go ( I phone 13 plus a Go Pro ) any tips ona laptop for editing I don’t want to have to upgrade 6 m9nths later , also any tips and Hinto on making good video please let me know
I use the free version of VideoPad - after a free trial it will want you to buy it but you can just keep using it; just not with all the features, which I never missed. It's easy to use but of course there is a learning curve. You can add titles, music, do picture in picture etc. I've made a couple of hundred videos of my motorcycle trips in India, Vietnam and locally using it.

Heading down there in a few weeks.
Bought some land a while back, going to chk it out.
Moving for good to tas in a few yrs.
Can't wait.
Coming from Sydney the first thing I noticed was the air quality. Some of the most beautiful uneffected coastline I've ever seen. Did well to buy a few years back - the market reportedly is very strong.

I don't think I'll leave Sydney. The facilities are great. It's close to family. My kids still live at home.

I live the good life now. It's not getting much better for me.

Prospecting, Kool.
Have you got a raggity old hat?
If not Lee might have an old fedora for ya.
Prospect in style I say.

It's great that most people have a plan for life post retirement, as opposed to those that wake up one morning and find that they are nor going to work..and then don't know what to do with themselves...Not too far before the sun sets at work, for me, but with wife working a little longer, short term will just be to travel overseas (would love to do Ireland and Spain) as well as continue to play in our community orchestra. Long term - too much of a Sydney sider to contemplate moving, but the older I get, the more the prospect gets discussed at the dinner table..

If you want to do recreational prospecting Victoria is a good place to be, wide range of gold fields and cheaper, in NSW you get slugged $27.50 for a yearly licence, in Victoria it will cost you $25.55 for a 10 year licence.
I'll probably retire to the old NSW goldfields area somewhere around Orange or Bathurst, still a few decades away though. Geez didn't even imagine you'd need a license for that, there's not much they don't slug you for these days.
