Think We will see a lot of changes in the APS when he gets back from Tokyo, a lot of secretaries shaking their boots

And rightly bloody so as it's landscape has been reshaped under this government and particularly under Morrison with his office appointments the first to be removed.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal needs to be thoroughly cleansed of political lackeys.

As I have in previous posts, I am happy to say I voted Liberal in my electorate and the sitting member was returned.

Whilst I believe the result may be a mistake for our country over the next few years, I am happy to be a part of one of the better democracies in the world where essentially, majority rules. I don't want to play semantics and carry on, but that is how it is pretty much.

Whilst I despise Penny Wong like you wouldn't believe, I accept the country has spoken and she will have my respect because of the position she holds as an elected official.
Mr Albanese as PM will also absolutely have my respect.

I do find it very class-less that Labor voters continue, after the election where Morrison got a right kick in the a$$, to continue with the rhetoric and the carry on. It's finished people. He was humiliated. Now behave like the new PM claims he will, and that is for better country and a more united country.

For the record, I grew up in Mt Druitt in the 70s and 80s, of single parent after Dad left when I was 2 or 3, and where mum didnt work but spent most of her time at Rooty Hill RSL before it was the Vegas of the West. This government housing single parent stuff does not automatically translate to Labor beliefs. This refugee doing it tough does not translate automatically either.

I urge Labor voters, Liberal voters, independents and everything in between to accept the decision with grace, move on and be better people and be better country, even if we are already the best country there is!
Great post mate.

We live in the best country. I love that I go for a walk and we get great food everywhere. My wife was born overseas. I have mates from all different ethnic backgrounds. A while ago I went to a mates house warming party and it was a Christian Tamil party. I can be ignorant as well and I never knew there were so many Indian Christians. I have extended family who are fundamentalist Muslims. I get along great with the mum who has 40 grandchildren.

Immigration has transformed this country since I was a kid and it's so much better now.

The world is awesome now despite some tougher times recently. Australia is in my opinion luckier or better put better placed than basically every country that I know of in the world.

Hear, hear.

I love that we have evolved from eating overcooked basic meals as part of it. To now be able to dine at a smorgasbord like selection of restaurants from all around the globe that reflect our community and enjoy the company of those with so many different backgrounds whilst there.

That said, like elsewhere it is time to have a proper conversation on continuing increasing our numbers through further immigration and particularly when our infrastructure is not keeping up.

Im a hotel licensee, but can do barwork, cellar, table service and a barista....I can also do rural fencing and paling fences...I have been offered a job with a contractor for 12 months but the rain has stopped us getting equiptment on to the property and now I have to wait for the go ahead...hopefully something else may come up...cheers mate...
Hope you get the work you want soon TT

Can you please expand on why you despise Penny Wong?

Anyone else with similar dislike for her please explain your reasoning also, as I am truly interested to know and I am pretty sure others are as well?

Isn't it funny how a particular politician really annoys someone and be liked by most people.
For me it was always Kristina Keneally.

That is why I asked for people to expand. I have strong social views and my dislike (hatred for Morrison) for certain individuals is based on their individual roles in policy, actions or lack of them, which I have articulated here.

Conversely, and unlike most others here I might say, I have likely praised those in a party that I wouldnt vote for that are decent, more often, or just about more than any other in this thread.

This is a bit left-field. But I was having a conversation the other day with a mate about politics. We both have different thoughts as everyone does…but after voting last week and seeing the amount of people who seemed to have no idea what they’re doing and speaking with a few people over the years….it really got me thinking about the old saying of not talking about religion, politics or money…

I’ve never seen so many people so absolutely clueless or uneducated about the people they vote for. Some just vote for who their parents vote for, others for whichever party has their favourite colour attached. It’s mental.

Question is…should politics become more of a talking point? Why are people scared to have an open opinion or get better educated on something that could have a pretty big affect on their lives. Are they scared of looking like an idiot? I think it’s pretty important that politics becomes a normal part of conversation in a respectful way and shouldn’t be looked at like one of those topics we shouldn’t talk about. Now probably more than ever.

A lot of people don't want to voice their opinions because if you vote Liberal you're automatically a racist misogynist and if you're a Labor voter you're a commie pinko self loathing hater of Australia.

It's been largely reduced to a culture war.
