Michael Maguire leaves club

Mixed emotions. I think Madge has had to endure a lot namely inheriting the salary cap mess that Cleary left behind. We’ve had to have Madge do what he’s done to get the club on the right path. at the same time, he has recruited the entire squad and is ultimately responsible for the teams offence, defence and rotation. Reluctantly, I think it’s time for a change. Flanagan probably but I refuse to have Kyle in lieu of Hastings or Brooks! That’s how bad Kyle Flanagan is.

We're 3 from 9.
33%
After 3 years of Madge coaching this team.
Justify that....
Madge has had more than twice the time as Barrett..has signed or resigned the entire team...were coming second last..and we get flogged 32-nil in the second half against a mid table team
Dont need to be Mensa to work out hes out of excuses ,and importantly out of ideas
Need to move on
Only question is now or season end

We probably 'have' to make a change during the bye round. Not saying I agree, but we probably have to.

We announced a huge review end of last season...and now another review bye week, with Sheensy openly saying some want him gone.

(“There are elements in the club that are happy to be patient with Madge. Others aren’t.)

If you hold TWO reviews, and you don't act...you basically look like a joke.

This is such a multi faceted topic.
As far as I'm aware the NRL team's support staff are not limited by salary cap. Obviously we judge coaches as good or bad.
The fact is, the best coaches usually have the best support teams; ie; assistant coaches, head of performance, strength and conditioning staff, sprint coaches, physics, doctors, dietitians etc.
Top NRL coaches come with their own top team.
What I've heard about tigers:
We don't have a dietitian. We have many issues with poor treatment of injuries and rehab, we have an inexperienced performance staff, Madge has changed the performance staff multiple times, he has changed the assistant coaches.
That's a snapshot of footy.
Then there are the pathways to manage from Cup, flegg, ball, matts etc.
There's also recruitment.

Did everyone see the YouTube series on the panthers leading into the 2021 season? It's a snapshot of what a professional organisation looks like. They even had a segment with the dietitian design of the meals which were made by the chefs at the panthers club.
It just showed that it's not a level playing field in the support issues.
I'm sure the COE will address alot of these problems to help us compete down the track, but we are along way off the pace off the field with the top clubs.
Was it jack Gibson that said winning starts in the front office? The game got alot more professional in the last 3 years. It's fast and we are not keeping up.

I don’t like the disrespect for Madge it may be time to move on but he has forced improvement at the club on many levels.

No other coach would have done much better and a younger coach would have seen us like the bulldogs.

The next coach will be in a much better position and be able to add to the team. It’s why it’s time to move on.

Sheens has had 6 months to gauge what’s going on and can make a decision based on experience as he knows he can’t trust management who lack rugby league expertise.

The board can then justify another 18 months before we are ready with a new coach. It’s going to take that long ie 2024 before we even threaten the top 8.
