Michael Maguire leaves club

Pretty much how I see it. Without been privy to what is going on behind the scenes it’s hard to make a judgment but going on what I have seen a patched up team do this year gives me hope. Sheens has been around football long enough to make a fair call so I will go with his call
I dont believe Sheens will make the decision alone. Boards are loaded with people who like to exercise power. Sheens will follow what the board wants regardless of his football knowledge.

If the club is serious and they want players to come. They will need to make a statement. When they sack Madge they will need to sack someone from the front office. Even though Brooks has been playing well at 5/8 I would tap him on the shoulder as well as Noffa.
But in saying this i have no confidence in them.making the right decision.
Old School Teacher, is that you old profession? A very honourable one if it was 👍
Mate my take on all of us on the forum is we say what we would like to see transpire but we don't have the knowledge to substantiate our claims.
We could recommend to get rid of the whole 30.
Sack the board, sack Madge, burn old LO and CS down and change our colours and name... maybe to Western Australia Sandgropers.
Will that make everyone happy. If course not.
The forum members are frustrated [rightly so] and we state the same shit over and over and over.
None on us know how to run a club. It's laughable that people, including me, think we have all the answers.
We don't know jack shit about all the inner dealings of an NRL club. I haven't been told anyway.
I'll follow the club unconditionally no matter what it dishes.
Seriously what can we do about it.
Noone is stopping anyone to jump ship and follow another club 👋

Tigers players are often disappointing, that's my TLDR hot take.

But OK

Laurie is very capable but not zippy enough for his small frame. Still, the basis is there for a Brett Hodgson-style fullback.

Nofo has an ego beyond his abilities or standing in the game, but he can do dirty metres and finish a try. 2022 probably his best season, before concussion, since he got the Dally M winger.

Brent Naden - I like him a lot. He's like a super-powered gronk, and I mean that in an affectionate way. I liked him at Penrith too, a really up-beat player and it doesn't hurt that he's 9 ft tall.

Tyrone Peachey - like Owen Craigie Mark II; not at all a reference to his indigenous background, rather that he is so talented and yet highly prone to brain explosions.

Junior Tupou - he is as green as the Leichhardt Oval hill, but if he can build on his already large frame, could be a real weapon in a few years. Absolute liability in defence right now but that can be fixed.

Brooks - much maligned. He can play but never at a sufficiently successful level to please people, and it's been such a long time now, he'd have to be Andrew Johns reincarnated from here on out to lose his reputation. I'd still love to see him given a go in a good side, a la Melbourne Storm. I feel sorry for the guy because I've seen far worse footballers with better reputations because of the club they are at.

Hastings - he's a keeper and the gamble has paid off. Exactly the type of organiser and leader Tigers need. Does not appear to be a line break or try assist machine, but if the team can stay solid around him, he'll direct them and set standards.

Aussie Jim - I think the ability is still there for a 1-year extension, but he's got to be playing at this 2022 best every week, no more of this in-and-out stuff where he goes missing sometimes.

Simpkin - probably going to have an NRL career, but struggles with the workload of a modern hooker.

Zane Musgrove - he either disappears or clobbers someone; I can't quite decide. I think he should come off the bench but I assume that will happen when Stefano is fit. He's on a long-term deal so we'll need to figure out how to use him, and at times he can be a real weapon. He needs to head more into JWH enforcer territory, which is why the bench is his best usage

Garner - sometimes good, sometimes absent. Hard to say just what Penrith will get.

Luch - he's good more often than not, been a bit disappointing of late. Opponents know to gang-tackle him, and he's not going to be effective in a beaten forward pack. Still, one of the few guys in our side you can throw early ball and he'll still be a handful

Joffa - middling lock but I think he's getting better. He did play Origin and that wasn't a fluke - it is a capability he does have.

Twal - I think he was injured last year, he's so much better this year. Just an honest unit and tackling machine. Needs dynamic props to support him.

Stefano - still a hot prospect despite a slow return from ankle injury. He'll get there. One of the nicest kids I've ever met; he can be a true icon of the club if he stays long-term.

Blore - another nice young fellow, I was perhaps surprised to see how engaged he was with fans and not just staring at his phone, hoping not to be noticed. Hard to say what he's really capable of without playing regular footy.

AJ Kepaoa - might make it. Again injury hurts, but he's a physical specimen. I'm not sure about his football head wrt positioning.

Gildart - bust, but worth a try. Just too small physically to compete in the NRL, and I think he's discovered that footwork is not enough. Centres at this level are killers. Would not be at all surprised if he asks for a release by the end of the year.

Maumolo - strapped like an old trotter but gee the guy knows how to find the line in 2022. Does dirty carries and can leap - it's just a matter of him being fit, the rest of the ability is there.

Mikaele - doesn't have the motor to make it in the NRL and he knows it; that's why he's gone to England.

Madden - I don't see it myself; which I've stated a number of occasions. A capable backup for sure, but I think he will be found out if he starts every week, and I think oppositions would start to target him heavily in defence.

Seyfarth - really commendable effort but just lacks power or dynamism. If he raced honey down a hill, the honey would win.

Starford To'a - only a few rounds in, I think he's got ability. Needs to be kept in one position so he can develop his game, because he looks like a centre more than anything, but they keep moving him around due to injuries.

Kelma - I think he's being found out, though it's a little sour grapes as well. Highly dynamic in attack earlier in the year, but when asked to increase his minutes and do more defence, he's fallen right away. Those power forwards always struggle when asked to increase their minutes, and it's key for the backrow to achieve good minutes, so it remains to be seen whether Kelma is capable of it. But clearly he's blunted heavily in offence when asked to do any decent amount of defence. Very Garner-ish style in that way.

Junior Pauga - won't make it, but he tries.

Liddle - gets worn down in defence, and then his passing goes to shit. But he battles long, I can't dislike the bloke.

Nu Brown - barely played, but he's nuggety and reasonably skillful. A good backup.

Doueihi - he's a weapon, love the guy, so long as his knees hold up. Probably the only true 1-1 line attack weapon we have, i.e. can just tuck it under his arm and barge through the line without being set up.
If they were as good as u suggest..we wont be 15th!
Many are over rated imo,and have flaws which just don't get addressed

Bloody hell, I'm exhausted reading that.
Did you steal Madge's review notes 😁
Very commendable piece mate and spot on.
Well done.

Pretty much how I see it. Without been privy to what is going on behind the scenes it’s hard to make a judgment but going on what I have seen a patched up team do this year gives me hope. Sheens has been around football long enough to make a fair call so I will go with his call
If you watch our highlights from last year when we had AD and Laurie playing and most of the squad fit we played better than this year....so in that regard I believe we have gone backwards.
We haven't gone backwards in recruitment though [except for Gildart whom I'm dissapointed in] which is due to our cap being sorted, this is a good thing.
Keep Madge and give him a chance with a better roster.
I'm wondering if players like AC are waiting to see if Madge is staying?
Players won't go to an unstable club IMO.

Why would they see us as unstable? even if we sacked Madge it would be the first change in 4 years. We've had the same board and 'CEO' for about 6 years. They'd just see a as a stalled, insignificant club.

You should watch our defence compared to last year. Apart from the game on the weekend we were massively improved in that area.

I say it's an unstable ship if it's rocking and you haven't reached the shore [end if season]
I've never been a fan of mid season upheavals, just my op.
We've been a basket case so I just don't want to add to it.
How would you do it then???

Well, we're properly screwed as the people running the club are class 1 morons. They won't remove themselves , so theres nothing that can be done.
We're not unstable though.

Absolutely, points diff has improved so why are we not in a better position. You'll prob say injuries. I don't think the club can use that as an excuse, not entirely. There are no excuses for mediocrity.
My point is our roster is not good but slowly improving, and will get better, and it is our cap position that has a lot to do with it. I'm for Madge with a better roster.

Everyone cracks on like they're a comical nothing....
There's 500+ NRL contracts every year - How many aren't fullfilled?
if he's got a contract, There's a 99.5% chance he sees it out.
I understand what you're saying, though this thing called a contract: it's just the piece of paper these days seemingly is at the whim of player managers etc.
Once there was just a handshake (eg Mick Cronin etc) now it's open slather to be abused.
And it's everywhere - the only losers are the diehard fans who truly love the club, love the jersey and expect things to be straight.

No we are not unstable, I didn't say that, I said mid season upheavals can cause instability.
I know there has been recent coach changes that have worked but those teams had SOO players etc. We are building, a difference.
