Michael Maguire leaves club

By accident (not kidding), NRL360 just came on youtube and it was a segment with Anasta, Kent, Crawley and Riicio. I haven't watched since Ikin left, but thats a personal choice.

They discussed the comments by Lee Hagipantelis around the mid season review. They played the recording. I have never seen so much BS and twist come from that. I though Lee's comments were crystal clear, and would be the same from any Chairman if they were talking genuinely about the future of their current coach, be it Bellamy, Fitzgibbon, Robinson, whoever. So they deliberately chose to lie and twist that into something.

Kent made the comment that NO other NRL club is doing a mid season review. I didnt look too hard to season that the Warriors had just done the same, finishing 2 days ago.

Then they discussed Ciraldo coming to the Tigers. They weren't sure. They also discussed him going to the Bulldogs but given he was currently discussing extending his contract, he would not take that option. So hang on...... he wont go to the bulldogs because he is recommitting to Penrith, but that same reason doesn't exist around the Tigers?

These blokes are imbeciles. And anyone who watches that show should consider themselves one aswell.
Didn't you just watch it?

People call out Barrett with the same brush & go no. But a massive difference is Barrett never coached before accepting a role, he then went back as an assistant then back to coaching. He never actually got to apply his trade before accepting a coaching role.

Not sure what you're saying....
It's common knowledge Barrett was U20's coach and assistant at Penrith before he went to coach at Manly - When he went to Panthers after Manly, He was going back to where he'd come from.
Ciraldo might have only just finished playing back then...

I'd be very surprised if Ciraldo takes up the Tigers job. The dogs seem like a more likely destination if he is keen on a head coaching role sooner than later

it's not about whether any job pops up, it's whether it's the right job. Ciraldo is 37, he could wait another 3-4 years if he wanted to really, chances are if he's as good as people say he'll be a head coach for the next 30.

if you compare the dogs and the tigers our pathways are in a far far better spot. our Flegg side both this year and last year are excellent. we've just won Harold Matts and apparently have an even better crop next year. the Wests SG Ball boys played a year young this year and will be heavyweights the next.

we're quickly building a sustainable pipeline of juniors not too dissimilar to Penrith. throw in the centre of excellence a stack of former Penrith players and the best back rower in the comp coming next year and I know where I'd rather be. not saying we should get rid of Madge and bring Ciraldo in but I think it would be the perfect job for him to kick things off.

The way I see it is when last years review decision was made to allow Madge to continue coaching there was always going to be this current review...an assessment on how things are going.
This was confirmed by Tim himself.
The media have once again jumped on this as a crisis meeting that's suddenly cropped up.
The bye round is perfect for this assessment to take place.
This meeting is not solely aimed at Madge, it's the whole club.
What the board had hoped was at this point of the season we were sitting on double digits thus giving us a shot at the top 8.
As I said earlier, on paper we have gone backwards if you look at last year where we won 5 of the first 13 games, this year it's 3 from the first 12 games heading into the bye.
I could go on with more but it's been said.
I think that because Tim is now overseeing football ops that he won't overlook that while we haven't had the results we have had terrible injuries, a backline that changes weekly, suspensions and indiscretions of the field.
Our defensive attitudes at times have been commendable, look at the wins against Souths and Parra. We haven't shown that sort of resolve, resilience for a long time.
Losses against Souths Rd12, Nth Qld Rd 10 and Cronulla Rd 5 have been forgettable performances whilst other games against Melbourne, Manly and Golf Coast to name a few were winnable.
During this review period they have to ascertain contract renewals/extentions to players like AD, Laurie and Jacko to name a few.
Sheens will be aware of how we are in a good cap position now [finally] to retain players like these as well as add to our improved roster for next year that Madge has been able to accomplish.
What I'm trying to say is this is not just a review on Madge.
The one thing I like about Madge is his determination to right the ship. To hang in there for the long haul where previous coaches have failed. He still believes he can turn the club around so lets give him the roster he deserves. [I love his passion]
This scenario reminds me of an English Channel swimmer who valiantly swims to a point half across the channel and so exhausted he decides to turn around and go back. 🤔 Makes no sense.
Vote 1 Madge, Gardiner,Cayless and Sheens
G'day @Cobarcats
WOW...You've STILL GOT IT !!!!!!!
Absolutely Love Your Passion for Wests Tigers and life in general.
Such a well thought out and worded post.
KEEP ON KEEPING ON COBAR.

I have made it clear that I am in the keep Madge camp. Mainly based on the fact I don’t see what a new coach can do with the roster he has available and the projected roster over the next 24 months.

If Madge is flicked, I just hope we do get someone like Ciraldo, who is young with new fresh ideas, rather than a recycled coach like Green or Flanagan .

Unlike the Dogs, we have something positive to offer a new coach. There is a pathways system in place that is not far away from delivering, there is money in the cap and Madge has laid some strong foundations especially in changing the culture of the joint. We are far from a basket case that some in the media would like us to believe.

If that is true - it means Ciraldo sees strength in our position in the future. And if that's the case, why are we sacking the current coach?

We have waited over an extended period to create a platform from which to launch greatness, got rid of 15 years of baggage, and the bloke close to the centre of it gets punted?
Maybe Madge has issues with consistently motivating a squad. Results suggest this.

NRL360 is 'The View' of rugby league. Terrible show hosted by terrible people, made for people whose life revolves around being outraged.
