Love ya cobar......turncoat ,but each to their own,,,
TT I'm not a turncoat 🤣
Just woke up one day and thought.....You know what, I ain't gunna go back to that rat race.
I do love going back to LO, Willoughby, Castle Cove, Crow's Nest and Nth Sydney now and then to rekindle my grass roots 👍

Payton whiteanted Potter cause he can’t coach, hence why he hasn’t held a job, even an assistant? Why??
As Robbie says ‘he can’t coach’. Payten wasn’t gunning for his job, he just couldn’t stand the incompetency he was watching under Potter.
Yea that’s bullshit revisionist history IMO. As if he wasn’t gunning for his job. The boys club had just punted sheens , and the whole circle needed a huge reality check and some humbling , Payten included. Both things would have been true at the same time . Potter was not up to it , as much as the knives would have been sharpened . It’s irrelevant anyway because the perception was as such and Payten went to the same coaching purgatory ,potter did. Having to get gigs as an assistant at NQ and the warriors . He’s just good at his job so he pulled himself out of it . And it seems potter may have as well this year.
My point is still true , if we had some more humility around the joint, many of our issues wouldn’t have been there .

Robbo and Madge walked into strong clubs.

WTs have a culture of giving up unfortunately.

We need to stay the course and hold our nerve.

2023 will be the year that we show improvement.
Totally not disagreeing with you . That’s my first choice as well . I’m just saying if the mob gets it’s way , I think woolfe is the right choice.

Fifita started the "Tonga Revolution" And Taumalolo to a point.
By getting all the better players to commit.

The last coach to come out of there with similar results is Justin Holbrook
- Has a squad full of Origin Players and has the same amount of wins as us!!

When Woolfe was in Aus, He was coaching ressies in Townsville.... Nothing special results wise.

I get your point, I'd probably prefer him over Flanagan.
But there's plenty of coaches that kill it over there and come back to leave not much of an impact on anything.
Seriously like who ?
Holbrook , your right about , I forgot about him to be honest , but the mail is he’s a strong coach . His issue is the Gold Coast lifestyle of fast money and living the life , being a cancer on just about any sports player who’s ever moved there , of any code or shaped ball .
The only one who’s ever got any success there of any type is Cartwright 15 years ago .
You can chuck basketball teams , soccer teams , afl teams , a trillion nrl/arl teams , into that whole mix .
Neil Henry got a year of success with a rag tag group the year before his board torpedoed the club with the ultimate poster boy of exactly what a GC sportsman is in Jarryd Hayne .
Even tennis players like Bernhard Tomic etc .
That city eats sportsmen souls .

We should wait to see how this origin series goes. If Queensland win, we should begin talks with Billy Slater. He could be the next big thing in coaching. Although Madge could turn it around in that time.

Personally I would like to see Madge given until this time next year.
Even if QLD win, its no reflection on Slater as a coach. First of all, at that level, it’s man management. Secondly, he’s coaching 6 weeks out of the year with all of QLD to choose from. Very different to coaching a mediocre club in the week to week grind of the NRL.

It is interesting that some coaches get their start at origin level.

TBH I thought losing 38-0 to the spooners at the end of last year had to be it. I guess it was going to cost too much, and Madge was still talking the good game. When he took over, the Tigers were always 9th. Four years on and the team is closer to the bottom than the 8.

I don't get it. Lots of players say what a great coach he is, but if he was so great, surely the team would not be in spoon territory?

Isn't that when his contract officially expires?

Nathan Brown and Steve Price spring immediately to mind....
Terry Matterson, Mick Potter from memory...

Madge (If you believe half of what's written here)

Nope sorry . Nathan brown was already the st George coach before he went , and returned ,same thing for Steve price . Potter had moderate success no where near the level of Woolfe or Madge or Robinson .
And who did terry matterson coach ? Wasn’t that like 25 years ago ? Hardly applicable .
The list is few and far between of guys who dominated that comp and returned here .
I’m not talking about guys who coached in both .

Good question. I think the squad is under-achieving a bit but mainly because of injuries.

Our spine consists of two options at 9 who are not first graders at this point. Our fullback is a borderline first grader.

One of our top two players has been injured for half the season.
