Wests Tigers Coaches

My only guess is so the assistant coaches can continue to do what they do in the day to day.
Everything I have heard, is that the assistants usually run the seasons etc at training and the head coach overlooks it all… weather that’s how it works or not here I couldn’t say.

Bit like replacing a centre with a back rower I suppose… leave the back rower where he is and find another centre.

I’m pretty disappointed in the club to be honest and genuinely feel for Madge. He may not have been perfect but his passion and determination to turn this place around is to be admired. He never gave up even when the players did. I think we were slowly starting to see some progress as a team, not necessarily as individuals. Apart from the second half against Souths we were turning up and having a dig and we were seeing improvements in players. Thanks for your efforts Madge.

Moving forward, Ciraldo seems to be the majority pick for who we’re after. Knows the Penrith system, has good relationships with players from all accounts, but so did Barrett and never been a full time first grade coach.

Payten in my opinion, is the next “Supercoach”. Smart, tactical and hates losing. Under contract and seems to love living in NQ, but has history with us and stranger things have happened.

Woolf - Tongan coach and done some good work in ESL. Wouldn’t be my pick.

Morris - I think he’s too inexperienced and we wouldn’t see much improvement for a long time under him. Sheens always loved him though.

Flanagan - controversial, but turned Cronulla around. Strong chance he brings his son along who I don’t rate.

Ryles - unproven, may throw his hat in the ring after time as the Storm and Roosters.

Farah - left field, but I wonder if Farah looks to move into an assistants role.

Paul Green - too similar to Madge and not really a development coach. Needs the cattle and has had a few recent unsuccessful attempts with other clubs.
I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling about any of the coaches. Bring Madge back 🤣

No idea who our next coach should be I wasn’t expecting Madge to get sacked tbh.
Some are saying we need an inexperienced coach, so perhaps a coach with the least experience? I’m not convinced this would be an improvement.
I’ll be listening to Buzz in future, he seems to have a direct link with a couple of the “WT power brokers.” And Sheens isn’t one of them.

1 Ciraldo
2 Morris
3 Flanagan

In that order

Rule out flops like Nathan Brown, Paul Green and I agree with @batboy - nobodies coming to play under Woolf.

Despite what the media says, the Tigers are actually an appealing club.

- got money to spend
- OK roster just need some signings to booster it up.
- good juniors coming through
- COE is almost built

It's a project a potential coach could really sink their teeth into and make it their own. Build a team and make it functional + successfull.
Sheens is there to help but isn't hovering over you like Gould would.

Think Ciraldo could do a lot with the club, just has to turn his back on Cleary and the Panthers and realise that the moment he signs (if....) they're now the enemy.

I really believe that Sheens is going to turn this basketcase around. I was a big Madge fan until I thought it through yesterday and listened to Tim's comments. We need a coach who can develop the young talent coming through and unfortunately Madge is not that man, he is a passionate man manager suited to international teams but tactically and development wise he is not it. We may well lose the likes of Hastings etc but if they are not invested then who cares. We will be in for some painful years again blooding these youngsters but it will be necessary,it is not like we have been setting the world on fire anyhow. I hope Noddy pisses off some of the older bludgers now such as Tamou, Nofa, Garner, Brooks etc and regardless of results we see some young guys given a crack.

Kimmorley has only got the guernsey for now as he was already on the payroll. I don't think there's any intention for him to have the job long-term.
Sheens clearly stated that Kimmorley will not be the Head Coach next year, even Kimmorley said they will be looking at someone else.

I think if you look at the magpies team which was beaten last week by bunnies, almost every player had nrl experience under Madge.
