Hey Magpies, I think there might be a few of us on here that mightn't be around to see our next premiership. Thanks @batboy I try to be very positive. But I gotta admit Madge's sacking made me see red 😡. I've settled down now so hopefully my BP settles down as well 🤣 otherwise I mightn't be around to see Our next Premiership 👴🦽
The Cowboys have a really good forward pack.Todd Payten would be my pick, has not been afraid to back himself and has the established ties with the club.
Amazing how well the Cows are going with a relatively unchanged team stock wise from last year.
Either Todd is a very good coach or Chad Townsend is the most under rated player in the league...
We have no DNA. The DNA Sheens instilled in us has been gone for a decade. Even when we were an average team back then, we were still feared cos we could put a score anybody. These days we’re about as feared as a squashed grape.I was actually just about to post on a a thread that has now since been deleted, it was in regards to WTs 2005 DNA and I was basically referring to the differences between this and the Taylor sacking.
(So please excuse the layout as some of it was already in response to another post.)
The flair or tactical nous/ability was still pretty evident when he was our coach.
We've never been a strong defensive team but I believe when coaches have tried to instill this into the team (and especially subsequent to losing Moses, Woods and Teddy) there was disproportionate effort placed into this area and we lost that intrinsic style.
Losing players who were suited to this (JAC, Simona are others), and thrived playing this type of footy, also made it hard to revert back to and we replaced them with outsiders - from different systems.
The neglect in the juniors meant it wasn't being filtered down either.
The game and rules are frequently changing and the current evolution of it, is why that 2005 team would've been perfect for the modern game. It was built for it. It's also probably why the club now recognises we've never really recruited or retained the players that were dynamic to this brand. (If we are claiming it's part of our identity).
If we still had the right type of players and were capable of playing this distinctive style of footy, there's no doubt we'd be very competitive in the NRL today.
Either way you look it, we've addressed the juniors and are attempting to implement this characteristic, so its a matter of time before it comes to fruition but in the meantime we need to be filling our first grade roster with players that have already shown to be highly competitive in the NRL competition. Or have the right coach that can bring them up to standard.
Its different to other sacking because its about sticking to and following through with a concise plan. I believe the club finally gets it, you need to bring changes forth or we'll be forever standing still and not developing.
Which hasn't changed much from last year, what's your point? The Cowboys have a really good forward pack.
Why not Stevo? If I was Cameron Ciraldo I wouldn’t go to the tigers no way
I’m a fly in the ointment too, but I like my Siebs.I hate to be a fly in the ointment but does everyone the last time a coach was offered a 5 year contract? Anthony Siebold hasn't been sighted since the Broncos fiasco and he'd just come off a successful season at Souths. He was considered a 'can't miss'.
That was kind of the actual point, the club is following a plan and has identified one of the biggest challenges to successfully achieving it.We have no DNA. The DNA Sheens instilled in us has been gone for a decade. Even when we were an average team back then, we were still feared cos we could put a score anybody. These days we’re about as feared as a squashed grape.
Couldn't help but notice that and it would indicate (to me at least that) we either have him, are in the process of finalizing terms or he has flat out rejected us.Sorry if this has been mentioned but did anyone notice the pause when sheenas was asked about Ciraldo on Fox? Like he had to stop and think carefully about what to respond.
Dunno mightn’t be anything
Sheens looked down and to the left..Sorry if this has been mentioned but did anyone notice the pause when sheenas was asked about Ciraldo on Fox? Like he had to stop and think carefully about what to respond.

Interesting. Despite the rules changing we are still seeing the consistent, structured teams dominating. Penrith’s current squad resembles one very similar to what they had in 2002-2005 but yet at the tail end of that period the small mobile and flamboyant team got the edge in the comp. (This is despite being owned twice in 2005 by the then Panthers team)I was actually just about to post on a a thread that has now since been deleted, it was in regards to WTs 2005 DNA and I was basically referring to the differences between this and the Taylor sacking.

Yep those clubs are rarely (or never) behind the 8 ball and don't need to make too many adjustments as the lower clubs. They already have strong systems in place.Interesting. So going off that, if Kimmorley can snag a win against Manly, for one game at least, he will become the first coach in Wests Tigers history to have more wins than losses.
Hold the phone! Where is the solid roster?Sack a proven coach whose won a grand final & finally built a solid roster only then to offer a rookie coach with no experience whatsoever a 5 year deal. How good is this club !!!!
