Luciano Leilua

Im not sure how people on here dont understand the benefit of clearing cap room now and either signing other players or front paying others. It means we have more cap room next year and anyone who thinks players and managers wouldnt jump at being paid ahead are idiots. Who wouldnt want to save a year interest on that equivalent of a mortgage or invest it for a year and make an extra 2-10% for nothing. If you make the call this year is over which we did last week then it was the right and smart thing to do. Good move by the club
I agree to a point,

Were already struggling this year to find points and he is relatively cheap.

He is one of our guaranteed starting 2nd rowers and a good character to have around the club.

This isnt a a good move

Can’t say I’m surprised at this early release, but can say I’m disappointed that the club has let another player go early with no player swap or obvious advantage.
At this rate we’ll have to get JTJ and Daine to blow some cash on the pokies for the club or else we’ll be fined for not spending the cap

And of course the Telecrap is putting a club negative spin on this....Gus would be loving this!!

"NRL market watch: Luciano Leilua quits Wests Tigers effective immediately"

Wests Tigers most influential forward has walked out on the club to join a rival club’s NRL premiership tilt

Buzz and Hooper will have a field night on NRL 360 putting the boot in....I can read the scripts now!..The WT are a club that just keeps on giving to the Telecrap...no wonder they "love us".

Don't hold your breathe...plus your assuming Hastings wants to stay here...I think the last few weeks he can see what our club is really like..
agree I don't think Hastings will be in any rush to extend
put the cash on Brooks salary for 2023, that way he either stays with us at say 850k (don't believe he is on 1.1 for 2023) less say 300k what we can frontload him. Effectively for 2023 we pay Brooks 500k on the cap
Two fold either another team kicks in 300k and we can move him on or we play him either way it gives options.

Exactly. You won't find many players and their agents agreeing to for instance pay a player a million this year and nothing next year.

Didn't say that and the NRL wouldn't allow that, it would need to be an agreed portion which no doubt would need the NRL to approve the restructure of the agreement as well.

If we could replace them with equal ability or better fine - but no good having money if we keep weakening our squad and try and convince others to come.
The Cowboys have a gun pack and see value in LL . Our pack is struggling and we weaken it further.

Facts are simple he wanted out got knocked twice already by the club this opportunity was to good to pass up for player and club goodbye and thank you.

O Kane and Tumeth now needed to be blooded ASAP

along with Pole and mata
I’ve seen Tumeth a couple of times in Flegg and I just don’t get the hype (maybe I saw him on a couple of off days). The tear away back rower on the right edge looked infinitely more impressive - Finnley Nielsen.
While the Auckland lad, Sione Vaihu is the most creative of all our Flegg back rowers.

Justin Matamua and Fonua Pole look the goods, although they are still very young. Matamua started 2022 in SG Ball and is now making strides in NSW Cup. 👍

They raised the white flag on this season last week. Is getting earlier every year when the club just gives up.

Exactly. It's not so simple.

I have no confidence in the club making the right recruitment and retention decisions and now is a critical time.

They may know what they are doing and be looking to make some big moves but it'll be a surprise.

I suppose this isn't that big a deal. He was gone next year anyway and I don't think he is worth 700k.
