Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

um . That’s a weird take on Tim sheens career dude .
You could literally name 50-60 players he plucked from no where to be a gun .
Off the top of my head ;
Ricky Stuart , ken nagas , noa nadruku , Brett Mullins , Ruben wiki , Laurie Daley , Benji Marshall , Tanilla Tuiaki .
And he’s had many many more who should of succeeded but didn’t . Guys like Ben Murdoch Masilla , Diane Laurie etc .
I’m sure there’s hundreds more
Marika is another one .
Diane Laurie 🤣

Top 30 next season...that is a huge leap for a 23 yo bench player at the Waratahs.

You would have to think someone is making way, or it does not make sense...we have so few forwards / way too many outside backs and hookers.
Didn’t the Pom mention we’ve got essential 1 or 2 spots available for next year with the planned Dev upgrades.

Rugby is way more about who you know , and what school you went to than league .
It’s the biggest reason the Wallabies are a second tier nation now .
They will only poach league talent when it’s undeniable , yet if the choice is player x has 75% skill of player Y , but X went to joeys , and Y went to Granville high school . Then Y will never get the spot .
It wasn’t as pronounced when that sport went professional in 96 because professionalism hadn’t caused the divide in skill yet . And 99 and even 03 was still much of the same . But eventually elitism took over , and now that sport is barely even financial anymore .

Looks it.
Taquiri was a winger who played in Union and Legue

Lol. Yeah ok I have a sad life because I'm questioning how far bargain bin signings are going to get our club which sorely lacks NRL level talent and hasn't made the finals for 10 years is gonna get us.

Yes I know little about him but it is extremely unlikely statistically, and objectively, that he will end up a good first grader. I'm hoping he does just like I hope Brooks by some miracle turns a corner and becomes a first grade standard half each week.

Signing Marshall as what, a 17 year old? is a completely different story. No problem at all with us actually going after promising juniors, can never have enough of those.

But the club's having a laugh trying to excite people signing reservge grade yawnion players while we've got half a pack signed for next season and are in the battle for the spoon this year.
Now that Sevens is an Olympic Sport, anyone who has spent time in that program has to be phenomenal athletically and have a very good skill set with ball in hand. If he can adapt to the defensive side of the game he could be a weapon
