Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I understand your comments but I don't regard him as a kid. He's 23 and has had rep experience in both league and union. Having said that he was rather thrown in the deep end and didn't swim well.
He's a 23 year old who's barely played in years. And no he has no rep experience in League. he played 7s in rugby and got a handful of apps for the Tahs.

The kids' played a handful of union games in past few years due to covid, hasn't played league in 5 years, and trained once or twice with the boys. There's no way in hell he should have been selected.

For a club that is talking about being a development club we repeatedly make absolutely terrible decisions that severely hamper the development of our players. Youngsters should largley be playing in the same position, in the same grade week after week. Injuries and suspensions may force a reshuffle here and there. But we repeatedly drop rotate players around positions, between squads, or just leave them out entirely. Look at Tupou, going between nsw cup, flegg, nrl, playing fullback, winger, centre, playing one half in one position then a different position in second half, playing 60 mins they benched so he can be 18th man. It's just appalling. Our new coach needs to steer this ship and tell whomever is currently making these calls (i presume Sheenius) to butt out of things.

Would be interesting who gave the order for him to play, that decision
Very hard to judge anyone's talent when the teams change constantly, we have signed some heralded juniours over the last year or two but everything above Flegg is broken.

He played junior reps in league for two clubs. He played Harold Matts for Newcastle and Ball for Souths. He's no stranger to league.

let's not write off Triston Reilly after one game of league when he joined the club on Monday. Tupou had his moments early in the season and now looks our best prospect in the outside backs. I'm not saying he's in the same league as Tupou but let's judge him after he's had some time to adjust. there is next to no decent outside backs off contract and the club was forced to look elsewhere.

Would love you to be right but the whole vibe around this bloke isn't encouraging and I saw nothing yesterday that was in the slightest bit suggestive of future success. Happy to admit it if I'm proved wrong.

I remember the same being said when Tupou started out for us as well. "No heart at all, see nothing in him, got the build that's it" etc. He's developed well and now few of us would be mad if he got the call up for centre/wing.

I was one of those doubters with tupou the kids got a lot of talent I will say but imo he we never play nrl as fullback he’s to lazy or he’s not very fit at all

Would of been a good lesson for him. Canterbury are a good side. Funny how they pushed gildart to the wing.

In commentary last week they mentioned the coach has put him in full back due to his shyness and to get him out of his shell.

Said club look at him as a centre or wing in first grade.

Reckon it has worked can see him being more confident.

I caught a bit of him on the FB link. Anyone else think he would be faster. ?

2024 team comprises of:
Papalli
Korosau
Nofo
Musgrove
Twal
Uto
Maumalo (MO)

And then about 6 depth and development players.

I don’t want to sign anyone for 2023 if it means signing them for 2024, unless they are top shelf. Our clean out is set for 2024 without any hangovers. All other contracts are finished.. Don’t get rid of an existing crappy player if it means we have to pay some of their salary for 2024. Just ride it out..

It surprises me the lack of quality juniors coming through WT system over the years.

Other teams appear to have a ready made production line and WT appear to be left with the Gods of State Cup

I remember these GODs of State Cup where most of them were lucky to play half a dozen games and struggled with the step up to NRL.

Funny how some of these players over the years were talked up on the Forum only to be complete duds

Zac Cini, Reece Hoffman, Shannon Gallant, Oliver Clarke, Thomas Mikaele, JJ Felise/Collins, Josh Drinkwater, Lamar Liolevuve, Deluoise Hoeter, Kyle Lovett, Brandon Santi, Asp Fine, Jy Hitchcox, Kurtis Rowe, Keith Lulia, Jarrod Farlow, Shaun Spence, Esan Masters, Sitaleki Akaula, Tom Humble, Matt Groat, Jacob Miller, BMM, Blake Lazarus, Nathon Malone, Keith Eshman, Allan and Jason Schirnack, Marion Seve and the list sadly goes on.

Esan Masters should have be a very good NRL player, had the physical attributes but appears very lazy. Only played 85 NRL since his debut in 2017. Can't even make the Titans 17 after Cowboys let him go. Wasted talent and not the only one.

Is he the Randwick player?

Smart post. Thanks.

Are Madge and Musgrove related somehow?

It’s a really elite Comp the NRL. When I was coming up I watched a stack of junior reps sputter out, some played a handful of NRL. A couple went on with it a bit.

Also, a Dale Finucane type of mentor is needed at this club, has been for ages.
