Wests Tigers Coaches

Think Ciraldo missed a trick if he actually rates himself as a good NRL coach of the future. If he does eventually jump in with a team high on the ladder or after Cleary finishes his contract, fair chance the natural cycle of teams means his team slide down the table over his tenure. Where does that leave his first grade coaching career?

The Tigers offering him a 5 year contract with good pathways now in place and building a war chest of salary cap space. Plus the COE now in place. If he backed himself to bring players over and develop the talent in the pathways, he takes the Tigers up the ladder, secures his reputation, then after 5 guaranteed years he’s probably even in a better position for his next first grade coach contract.

Even if he doesn’t quite make it work, he has 5 year’s increased salary guaranteed and probably walks straight back into an assistant role somewhere else given his record there.

If he can’t bring himself to pull the trigger in this scenario then maybe he isn’t the great next coach the media is pumping him up to be.
I know what you mean. I remember Alan Jones taking over Balmain around 1991 or 1992. The team were just starting to slide and he looked terrible as a coach. He probably was terrible anyway, but it didn't help starting with a high profile team past their best. I really think Flanagan, Morris, or hopefully my pick, Payten, will be able to start getting this club moving in a positive direction. I truly think this will happen over the next couple of years.

Melbourne consistently have their best players in key positions and build their side around them. Their recruitment and retention is first class
It works because they consistently have the best players in the NRL in key positions and players go there to play beside them. We have no players even close to that level - hence why we have so much trouble recruiting - and now even retaining those who want better.

Correct. It's a viscous circle. This is why it was so stupid to sack Madge. He wasn't the issue.

The board and Sheens have just damaged their reputations.

On the positive it's not really a big deal because we are at an all time low and the only way is up. The club itself is also in a pretty good position mainly due to Madge not stuffing our cap.

The problem is Sheens and his moron buddies are now likely to go out and give the dumb fans what they want. They will get us a marquee signing like Mbye or Josh Reynolds.

It's a critical time for the club and we've got people who appear incompetent running the club.

Tigers should contact Lionel Harbin. He’s got the Capras playing great football and in the top 4 of the Q Cup. Not bad for the perrenial cellar dwellers (just like our Tigers).

I’d coach us for ciraldo assistant money.

Given his roster, Todd is the best coach in the nrl right now by a long long way. I’m happy for him.
But I think he will stay.

So I’m ok with Flanno.

I’ll take Seibs and Morris assisting and the Panther conditioning staff etc.

That would be a decent brain trust, plenty of competition, white anting heaven.

I’d get them all for Ciraldo Dumpster money, 2 years.

Pascoe and the accountants would be happy we are saving cash on Ciraldo. The books will stay balanced. Might crack open a shandy lite or grape knee high. A new biro for the receptionist!

Wolfe concerns me. Has there ever been a success NRL coach that has had zero playing career? Usually they have played a fair bit of grade.
