Seriously, does anyone ever remember any club, any company, any business announcing that we have been knocked back? Like imagine Apple announcing we wants Musk as CEO, but he declined.

Like seriously, even when your local grocery shop gets rejected by an applicant, they don't tell anyone.

There has to be a reason they've done this, please let there be a reason.

There was a theory CC wouldn’t white ant Madge.

So a chance of cc with Madge gone.

But Tim said Madge wouldn’t be about in 2024, but that was on the assumption Madge wouldn't have a solid 2023.

Which is a guess and unknown. Maybe reasonable based on this year. But a theory only.

But the reports that cc was on a deadline this week seem to be right.

And I’m glad we cornered him to bust a decision now instead of November..

In some ways it’s good to get ivans boy out of the way. If we’d signed him for 5 years on the reputed 800k a season and he failed, that would be inexcusable.

Maybe also, it might tone down the heightened expectations we get drip fed all the time.

The next coach is second choice, fine so long as we don’t rely upon it if the losing continues. Not our fault cc didn’t come. That’s true but no excuse reason.

Dodged a bullet here. CC not for us.. tells me he doesn't have it in him. who knocks back a 5 year deal as a rookie. Let alone a NRL coaching role. This bloke has no stomach he's been flushed out. This looks just as poorly on CC as it does for us. Can't blame the club for trying.

Bring in John Morris or if we can Todd Payton.

I just look at the Melbourne system, they have their core then bring in regular no frills players that the coach develops,

Melbourne consistently have their best players in key positions and build their side around them. Their recruitment and retention is first class

It works because they consistently have the best players in the NRL in key positions and players go there to play beside them. We have no players even close to that level - hence why we have so much trouble recruiting - and now even retaining those who want better.

He knocked us Back to take on the “safer“ role….he will only be 42 when Cleary contract expires ..that’s a long term option….the Riff are making him the highest paid assistant in the NRL with whatever contract clauses he wants….he simply couldn’t stomach taking on a club like the WT….he has his eye on the Knights too.
