I actually think this idea has some weight.... If we were willing on gambling on a rookie coach, why not gamble on the likes of a Slater, Cronk, Smith etc. They would be in touch with the modern game and have a bigger influence with marquee signings as well as an inspirational figure for the juniors to look up to.

Cronk has a sweet gig doing tv...no way in hell he would take up a spot as our coach

That describes every new coach at a club. Madge and Cleary had to do the same thing.

Thats 2 cracks at CC and should be the last. No matter what happens in the future, his opportunities with us should be finished.

At this stage, then, Flanno for mine. He appears to have a liking for the Tigers and has the experience at NRL level. Like strker69 above has said, an unproven coach he is too big a gamble, imho.

Flanno played for Wests too ... we’ve always been successful under coach’s who previously played for the Pies. Those golden Terry Lamb - Jason Taylor years 🤣

Flanagan is the best realistic option available. Todd Payten made it clear he’s staying at the cowboys but if I’m the Tigers make a play like the dogs did years ago to Hassler. I don’t rate John Morris his teams at the Sharks only beat the bottom teams and made finals with a heap of talent.

I don't disagree on your Morris assessment, but it's interesting everyone seems to rate Fitzgibbon, who IMO has a better roster.

Just a quick re-cap . . . .
We are in a worse position now, than when we sacked Madge.
I mean, we are playing EXACTLY the same, but we don't have a first grade coach and our wunderkid choice has rejected us. We look even worse to the NRL world than we have for some years.
Since sacking Madge, all we heard about was how we needed a development coach.
Ciraldo was the answer. Nobody else was even courted.
Now, all of a sudden since being rejected by CC, development isn't a thing anymore and nearly every one of you is wanting Flanno.
I'd laugh if he also turned us down and we go back to Morris and his development attributes.
Lucky we sacked Madge. Just look at the difference !
We have no plan, no idea.
Maybe a 4 year rebuild is needed if and when we find a new coach. That should do it.

Why put out an official statement to say we’ve been rejected (again)? If it’s to get ahead of the media well they need to find the employee leaking everything and get rid of them, seriously how hard is it.

I hope the backup plan was good 🫣
