Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It's an image thing. We're seen as a loser club, that's highly undesirable by everyone. Everytime we get publicly rejected it reinforces this image that we are a club associated with failure and become even less desirable.

We need to break out of this vicious loop yet we keep setting ourselves up to fail
There are about 6 or 7 loser clubs, and the only thing they can do about it is start winning.

The style or timing of press comments ends up being irrelevant in the face of wins/losses. NRL supporters of other clubs won't start respecting you just because you do or don't make certain statements in public.

Bulldogs haven't earned respect just because Gould denies everything, including publicly-confirmed facts.

There is almost no such thing as a private rejection in NRL - the media will find out and they will print the story. Michael Chammas is already saying today that Ciraldo has definitely been pursued by the Bulldogs, despite Gould's protests to the contrary. (and don't forget Gould is aligned with Fairfax who own SMH and Ch 9).

I don't realistically see that if Ciraldo turns down Tigers and Bulldogs, that Tigers come out worse some how because we admitted in public that we were pursuing Ciraldo.

Because the only alternative, apart from a fantasy world where Tigers speculation never hits the media, is to pursue very modest or ordinary targets, i.e. never aim high, and then be less likely to receive a public rejection. For example I am certain if Tigers pursued Steve Georgallis to replace Madge, they could have done a very quiet very fast deal, and it wouldn't be a "PR nightmare", but we'd have signed a very ordinary coach.

No one knew he was their number 1 choice though, for all we know they have a backup lined up. We know we don’t because we tell the media every move we make.
And if it worked out it would have been a media triumph. We could never take risks, but I don't see how that helps wins and losses.

Wouldn’t it be good if someone at WT would jump on the blower and ask how Melbourne can afford another top line player despite the very public knowledge that Munster wants a lot more $.

They won’t the snowflakes.

It won't make a difference, the NRL will rubberstamp it without a glance

Storm will have plenty of room after The Bromwich boys, Smith and Kaufusi depart.
The Storm don't usually go for a high $ earner at the end of their careers though so it could be just managers stirring the pot before the deadline.
I've been thinking a lot about Angus and apart from being a solid defender who can play big minutes, you couldn't say he is a tearaway barnstorming forward.
I certainly wouldn't be paying overs for him.
Joseph Tapine however is the complete footballer in my eyes and one player I would pay a touch over for.

WT are in no position to critique origin quality players. A nobody coach won’t come here. Our second rowers who are not that good also just did a runner.

They've lost half their pack. They don't sit still like us.

What's that got to do with my post Baggers? I'm just saying Storm will have room in their cap imo???

Of course they will mate.

Look at their roster compared to ours. You think it’s fair they are able to chase more stars. The system is absolutely F$&@ef and nobody at our club has the gonads to mention it.

P.s they also got into their position of strength by cheating which coincided with what should have been a strong period in WT history.

Completely agree about Tapine,he would be the one person i would be chasing hardest to turn our puerile pack around and put starch into their performances

I think the Storm are losing Brandon Smith, The Bromich Bros so they might have a bit of loose change around. If you had an opportunity why wouldn't you go to the Storm ?

I cannot think of one reason why anyone would join the Tigers unless they got paid twice what they were worth.

You are completely disregarding how they fit so many stars in one team in the first place. Take a step back and look at it. The proven cheats have the bulk of the talent. The system is absolutely wrong.

Storm will probably sign both Sims and Angus for the same $ we offer Angus. That’s how.
Remember the comment the other day re lodge, his market value is 20k a game, that’s 480k for a season. But no one would be able to sign him for less than 550k well unless your one of the top clubs.

I know how it is.

Doesn’t mean it’s right.

We need fighters in our club on and off the field, guys who will wear bruises and stand up to unfair treatment.
