Wests Tigers Coaches

All this focus on the coach when the biggest problem is the roster.
We have no forward pack and we face Penrith in a couple of weeks - pray to God they rest some players.
Any half decent coach can get results with a decent roster.
Just sort it out - stop making them scapegoats for what is the obvious weakness - and buy some players who want to win FFS.
This, iv said all along if they want to punt the coach fine, but players have to go aswell or nothing changes. We need a rebuild that means no Brooks no Nofoluma Noone who has been here more than 4 - 5 seasons so we can start with a fresh slate, they're crop came and went and we had no success now it's time for the next crop of players to take the reigns and have a go, no point getting a new coach and keeping Brooks in the halves, nofo on the wing these old faces have to go so the club can finally start to move forward.

You make it sound so dramatic Paws "entrust the club with their sons and daughters well-being".
Wow!!!
What Flanno did was just plain desperate.......for his Team to Win that is.
And I feel he would be just as desperate for WT to WIN.......without doing anything stupid.
He's taken his punishment and has been forgiven by the NRL from the fact he is allowed to coach again.
How about you feeling its time to forgive him as well.
Great post Magpie.
Besides there are other ways to get an edge over your opponent besides injecting or swallowing banned substances.... it's called hard work.

Do not do this.

Tell him Lee is a great supporter of the club and we appreciate everything he does.

I really don't like the hate towards Lee. He is our major sponsor and clearly supports the club.
He's using our great club to promote his business, we sent a press release saying Ciraldo rejected us and what's underneath a Brayden's logo, he's always on the radio because he sponsors the show always talking league like he has any idea what he's doing it's laughable. His job is a chair of the board after that he needs to keep his mouth shut.

It really doesn't matter what who or any player has said anymore from the past or the present.

What matters from now on is the players performances and attitude, Noddy has already shown that poor efforts and performances will not be tolerated and Sheens too has said this before. “There’s a lot of work to be done but at age 71, I’m not afraid of upsetting people.”
How has Noddy shown this?

Nothing really new from Rothfield on BSB but will post it anyway.

“There’s two names I mentioned in the papers today, one is John Morris the assistant coach at the Cronulla Sharks, played 72 games at the Wests Tigers he’s got their DNA, 300 game player, made the top eight at Cronulla two years in a row,” Rothfield said
“Or there’s Shane Flanagan, I think at some stage we’ve got to judge Shane Flanagan on his coaching ability rather than the mistakes he’s made which has been harshly punished for.

“I’m sure those two will be among three or four people they do interview for the job, I think there’s a little bit of urgency about it because decisions have to be made about Luke Brooks and other players at the Wests Tigers.

“They’ve got to be planning right now for next year and the following year, the year after that, they’ve got to move quickly, but most importantly they’ve got to make the right decision.”
The Cronulla assistant?

I think that's why people are disappointed about missing Ciraldo.

The roster is definitely the biggest problem, but Ciraldo had hype about him that could help bring better players. With the likes of Morris, Flanagan, and Woolf I don't think they have the same level of respect and when your club is a laughing stock, we needed something.

True,

Although i think any of the coaches you mentioned will attract more players than a madge tigers team.

Ciraldo certainly would of attracted the most.

So it looks like Christian Woolfe to the dolphins. Scraping the bottom of the barrel for players has spread to the coaches going to be very little to choose from let alone the fact that they might not want to come here.

I want to believe he can attract players, and is a good option. Mainly because we have very few good options and the only way anyone is going to improve us is if they can bring better players here.

The question I have is why did Cronulla punt him for a rookie coach when on the field they were doing alright?

It's hard to see the truth at Cronulla.

On the surface he did a good job in tough times. Had good rapport with squad and good rep in the junior space.

Sharks top dogs saw Fitzgibbon as we see ciraldo. Upcoming coach that will attract players.

They then leaked stuff to the media as PR for sacking John morris.

In reality I think JM was a dead man walking and they didn't think he'd do as well as he did.

Why they didn't view JM in Sam'e light as fitzgibbon not sure.

But would be careful of believing the stuff that was leaked to the media.

So why appoint someone that took shortcuts?
Yes I agree that his credibility was severely tarnished, however, as Magpie said he's done the crime and done the time (the price).
He is not my first choice but I think he could bring to the table more than Madge has done by way of developing players.
As a side note.
I would be interested in knowing how many coaches, officials, medicos etc. flaunt the rules...stretch the boundaries. The whole concept of professional football seems to be based on how you can exploit the rules eg. the grapple tackle, chicken wing, taking as much time as you can before you have to drop kick the ball or feed a scrum, feeding the scrum incorrectly etc etc.
As a retired footy player I know players/coaches are looking for an edge. It will always happen.
Was Flanno just caught in goo gar land trying to exploit the rules.
Yeh I know he cheated the rules........
He's not a wife basher or a perpetrator of sex crimes. I'm willing to give him a chance.
Who's worse, rapist and thugs given another chance by the NRL or someone trying to gain an advantage?
A very debatable subject.

I'd probably go with John Morris. He brought a few young players through quite well in his few seasons at Cronulla and they were at least competitive despite being crippled by some terrible contracts (Dugan, Moylan, Johnson). Already has some connections within the club too.
Woolf has only had experience coaching a roster that is far and away the best in the competition in ESL. He might be alright but seems a bigger risk than Morris.
Paul Green, no thanks, failed to adapt over many years at Nth Qld.
Flanagan, no thanks, if Maguire didn't work I don't see why he would.
Jason Ryles, no thanks, need some runs on the board to take on this job I think.

You reckon. I don't. Have we ever had a coach who has attracted talent like Api and IP ?

That was madge fourth year and finally landed some decent players that came for $$$.

Squad while here was atrocious surely a new coach can get better players than that

If Gibbs being coached by Flanno doesn’t want him at the club that speaks volumes.

And I suppose he’s in a good position to judge payten and Morris having played with both of them.
Gibbs was a trouble maker at WT apparently, being the reason he was let go.
So I guess if you are a trouble maker at WT there is every chance Gibbs was going to be a disruptive influence at the Sharks also.

My personal opinion is drug cheats should be banned for life. I'm not going to change that opinion for Flanagan.
