Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think the tigers will announce Kimmorley. Throw money on the roster and hurry up. We’ve already lost more players than we’ve recruited. Get moving there are talented players every where waiting for a chance.

If AD and Hastings are future leaders...

What's the plans for Brooks future ?
Left field I know but Dykes is a 5/8 who can also play fullback. He's big, super quick and has a great passing game. Bring him in and if Hastings or Doueihi want to leave, let them at the end of their contracts. Dykes' defence perhaps needs work but so does Doueihi's and Hastings' defence.

I’m not having a dig at the bloke - I’m honestly not. I don’t think he would be up for the week to week grind of NRL at the moment and if he was in the nrl side tomorrow I’d be nervous.

I just want the NRL squad to have better depth like most people, Everyone wants to sign the next up and coming superstar so much they would sign twenty rookies to the squad in catching one..

Obviously they are starting negotiations, tigers offered a dev contract and he wants an NRL contract. That would be the issue with all of these guys. Who knows where the contract negs will finish, I hope he gets a chance. I also don’t think it’s a great idea to leak out negotiations.
In my opinion the smartest way to do it, and this is consistent with other top clubs is to lock your young talents away on top 30 contracts and sign experienced depth players on part time / train and trial contracts.
He is currently on a Dev contract. So it sounds like they are offering him a train and trial contract for next year which gives him a chance to play first grade from round 10 23. And this might be a temporary suggestion until so room opens up in the top 30.
In essence, a Tristan Riley project should of been signed on a train and trial position for this year and next and Tumeth should of been signed in one of the positions 25-30.
Hard to know the value of that decision given his injury history.

Not over the cap, but gives us more money to spend next year if we wish, can also just as easily use it in 2022 to front end some contracts, doesn't matter either way, just saying under NRL rules we don't have to allocate it in this years cap.
Got ya

Thanks for the updates @THE_POM and I think I owe you an apology.

In a post somewhere I suggested that you may have left the building.

I did a search of registered members and could not locate you when I entered THE, POM and all sorts of variations.

Where I was going wrong was not including the underscore which made all the difference in locating your profile.

Good to see that you are still around and keep the news, whether it be good or bad coming when it comes to hand.

Quick Update:

Coaching:
Club had a zoom meeting with Kristian Woolf a couple days ago to purely gage his interest in being our coach, wasn't a lengthy meeting but all round positive response from both sides. John Morris has also been directly spoken on 2 occasions.
The club has had to applications put to the club via the Walker Brothers Management & Dean Pay's Management, neither of these are looking to be explored.
In relation to Shane Flanagan he's not entirely out of the equation but his aggressive background media push has made the club extremely cautious not to mention his previous indiscretions.
A left field name that has been discussed is Jason Ryles, but doubt he'll leave the Roosters.

Recruitment:

Charlies Staines - all the noise about him is purely from his management & we are just being used to get his name out there to see if any other takers will come into the fold.

Kade Dykes - As you can imagine everything went sideways with this, he hasn't committed to the Sharks at this stage, management waiting to see where we land with a coach.

Jordan Miller - We seem to have done enough to keep this young man with us for the future. 3 Year deal will development next year & top 30 in 2024

Brandon Tumeth - Well into discussions to keep him around, almost certain to be in top 30 in 2023.

Hastings & Doueihi - Sheens has been in constant contact with these 2 & made it very clear to the both of them that they are future leaders of this club, had lengthy 1 on 1 with them & cleared the air over recent events.

In relation to filling remaining spots for this years roster by August 1, we only need to fill 2 out of the 3 available, as Luciano was released in June under NRL rules we aren't required to fill his spot & don't have to allocate his money for the 2022 season, this can be rolled over into next years salary cap.
Thanks Pom!

We
I'm fine with re-signing Brooksy but it'd be on a Benji contract - i.,e. 150k 250k per year as depth.

Surely his time is over.
Well he sure is playing for his future imo. Whether he is with us or not, the remainder of the year is vital for him. This is one of the reasons I said earlier when I disagreed with him going to KOE.
I also refuse to believe that an international ½ in Brett Kimmorley couldn't get him playing better.
I thought Brett would be given the task to do this whilst he is caretaker.
Brett's time is limited imo, so give him the task because if we persist in keeping Brooks in first grade we can't have him play sub std footy, noone wins.
