Wests Tigers Coaches

No I'm saying people are overreacting and being impatient. Stop falling for it all.
There was an article that listed basically every coach available as potentials. This is background work or crisis management from the club.
I think your right on the money Lauren....I would be devastated at bringing Sheens back as coach...we need a younger up to date with the game today type of coach...I mean we just sacked a premiership coach who was doing his best, but according to some on here the game had passed him by and Sheens hasnt coached at NRL for over 10 years..
UNBELIEVABLE.....

Sheens punted Gibbs and Fifita for Blair that should tell you how good he was he also has Backrowers playing centre he lost the plot in the end , let’s not waste more time select a coach get him hear and let him prep for 2023
From Andrew Fifitas mouth the club choose Groat over him and Sheen's was the hardest coach he played under that was waiting in line at the KFC man he can eat

Sheens was and no doubt still is an innovator, a scholar of the game. From descriptions of Maguire he is a good guy but intense, inflexible, unbending. In saying that, I am open to face slapping being brought back and Roy Masters is always entertaining.

Agree

New coach needs to be appointed and start ASAP

I'm starting to worry though that the delay is not only due to the process of finding a coach and interviewing potential candidates but also convincing someone to take the job which has the potential to wipe 20yrs from your life span

The Great man speaking truth. Bit about sheens in there too.

Him and Laurie agree that sheens with a Morris next to him would be best

That’s where I am at also.
I feel the club during this transition would be better placed with Sheens as a head coach grooming a keen assistant rather than as a coaching director overseeing a developing keen first grade coach.

I suppose the question that needs to be asked is would players want to play under Sheensy as opposed to all the other coaches mentioned. There is no doubt he is a master at bringing through the juniors. History says he is arguably the best. If I was a modern day player I know who I would love to learn from. He has my vote if he is up for it.
Reckon we’d have far more luck recruiting with Sheens as head coach than with him as a coaching director

Jason Ryles is also a rookie that would be worth looking at. Has been assistant at Melbourne and Roosters as well as with one of the Union franchises.
Could be worth a look at.
I'd be ok with Sheens for next year IF it was as a fill in for Payten in '24

If Sheens can attract some players now to the club and gets us into a position to compete - do it. The coach has never been the real problem or the solution it's our ability to recruit and retain over a period of many years. Years ago money was handbrake now it's years of failure -and in a competitive market the best don't want a bar of us. The perception is we are a bottom of the barrel club and the only thing that can change that is a decent roster that starts winning some games

The club went all in on ciraldo didn't get him that's life.

Feedback from ciraldo himself was an experienced coach is required for the pain the coming from Maguire squad.

So if most people are saying at the moment we need an experienced coach who better than sheens?

He'd be in to steer the ship for next two years and during that time have an off sider like souths did with Wayne and the souths coach now.

I think that's the model we should go.
I don't have a problem with Sheens coaching the team, aside from the fact he and the club were adamant that he'd play no role in the coaching side of things. And I also find it ironic that the club at one point sacked him from that position and he filed a lawsuit against us lol.

I agree it could work so long as he was mentoring another coach coming through to take over though.

The club has made no announcement. The criticism and guesswork is premature, Plenty of time to whinge later when the coach is appointed.
Have you already forgotten the announcement where they said they'd failed to sign their primary target and need to go back to the drawing board?

There's no guesswork, but yes I agree there's been no announcement (or leaks) from the club since they're failed attempt at Ciraldo - this tells me they likely had/have no idea what they're doing next.

I don't know, this whole exercise comes across very incompetent, that's my main issue with it. I'm sure most fans will be happy once they actually sign someone, but this new administration with Sheens at the helm hasn't had a great start imo.

The club approached, Ciraldo, he sad no. It happens. The club moves on. I don't believe the club looks incompetent. We seem to have our house in order and I'm sure we will get a great outcome.

He said not to them at the end of last season, you would have thought this time round they would have approached him on the quiet rather than blurting out he was our main target. So yes I believe they are incompetent, FFS we even released a presser announcing we hadn't got our man.

I’m still not over it, will take a few seasons.

Our good name on the line against nuffies, Mad Monday started from kick off.

The press conference was also dramatic with Madge citing the 25 players out through injury, which is not his usual refrain.

Normally composed after yet another loss, he was beside himself.

There was an earlier comment, some of our d was champagne yesterday. A nod to Noddy.
