Wests Tigers Coaches

Pascoe is a common denominator since 2016

Pascoe is a common denominator since 2016, I don't know him personally and want him to succeed but I feel it's beyond him. He cost us a 700k Cap fine, got suspended for 6 months. How can we expect him to know the intricacies of running an NRL Club when he didn't know that one of his closest friends (Ivan)was negotiating with a rival Club or the fact he was unaware that The Big 4s Manager was leading us a merry dance. I repeat, i truly want him, the Chairman and any Coach to succeed, but the culture and environment is not conducive to success.
True…but…he appointed a “premiership” winning coach to replace Cleary, apart from Bennett and Bellamy the next best in the business coach…Madge was given full reins to run the footy side of things….yes, he inherited a cap mess from Cleary, which was Cleary doing, but that was largely sorted out after 2 years….every footy decision since Madge was appointed had Madge’s finger prints over it…he was the top dog for the Footy side of the business….what was clear, and not Pascoes fault was Madge could not attract elite players….they tried and failed….they didn’t fail due to cap issues, the players such as Lattell, TPJ ect rejected wanting to come here. Pascoe has done a great job with the clubs finances and getting the COE up and running…that should be an attraction for players to join us…but obviously it’s not enough. A few years back the board had a reputation for infighting, that was solved when the new board, majority Wests, was formed….but the reputation of the club has not improved…as with anything in life, there is not a single cause or a single answer to the problem. Many are aiming for Pascoe, but he ain’t the major issue here. By and large he has done a fine his job and done it well. The current roster belongs to Madge, its been his since 2021…but it’s not NRL standard….the media leaks and poor reputation in the media and thus the public and other clubs perception of us, sits squarely with the persons who leak this rubbish to the media…and that sits with the board and partly Pascoe….I believe there are Board members who can’t keep things in house, they leak to run their own agendas. Lee H, should go after them!!. We need a new board, probably a new CEO and for Tim Sheens to run the entire football side of the business….if that means he is NRL coach for two years to groom a younger coach so be it….

I can agree with some of your beliefs, but commissioning a Documentary and letting Australia see how underwhelming our organisation is was a massive fail and was completely unnecessary.
For me, the bad outweighs the good.

If Sheens were to take the role on himself, it would be the greatest political move in history. I’m having a hard time believing that that will be the outcome, but nothing would surprise me with this club at this point. He’s already downplayed how important results are for the next 2-3 years. So read into that what you will.
he will have to change his name to Tim Machiavelli. Although Ivan Machiavelli might have his nose out of joint

Benji played without discipline and little to no structure, imho he would be a huge mistake as a coach
Joey was a fantastic player too but I reakon he'd make a terrible first grade coach due to his own reasons. Seems alot of average ex-grade players make good coaches e.g. Bellamy and Robbo.

SHEENS NOT KEEN TO COACH, WHY MORRIS MAKES SENSE

Wests Tigers director of football Tim Sheens has set the record straight about the push for the four-time premiership-winner to take over as head coach at Concord.

Off the back of Cameron Ciraldo knocking back a five-year deal, Tigers decision-makers have now begun a campaign to try and convince Sheens to step back into the hot seat world of NRL coaching.

When we contacted Sheens about the push for the coach who guided the Wests Tigers to the club’s last premiership in 2005 to return he was quick to shoot it down.

“It’s not the club’s preferred position and it’s not particularly a road I want to go down,” Sheens said.

The Tigers wined and dined a group of media at well-known rugby league restaurant Grappa last week where the concept is believed to have grown legs.

We can’t confirm or deny how much Shiraz or Chenin Blanc may have been involved.

Sheens is adamant the Tigers will sit tight in the search for the right coach to try and steer the club out of what’s rapidly developing into a complete schemozzle.

Ex-Cronulla coach John Morris is certainly one candidate on the interview list with Sheens having contacted his agent Chris Orr about setting up an interview.

Morris appears a strong option when you consider Sheens is on the record about how the club is searching for a development coach.

Morris has got DNA at the club having played 72-games there across three seasons between 2007 and 2009.

Sheens was the coach then so the pair enjoy a strong rapport.

Run an eye over the list of emerging talent Morris brought through at the Sharks and it stacks up a strong argument why he’d be a good fit for the Tigers: William Kennedy, Briton Nikora, Braden Hamlin-Uele, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Sione Katoa, Toby Rudolf, Blayke Brailey, Teig Wilton and Royce Hunt.

Morris has also been around the block in terms of the dangers of getting caught up in club politics.

During his time at the Sharks as a very young NRL coach, Morris had just about every knife in the kitchen thrown at him.

It’s also a political mine field at Concord at the moment as evidenced by the bun fight around the constant leaks in terms of information coming out of the club.

We keep coming back to the old Jack Gibson line – winning starts in the front office.

He is a peanut isn't he. Robbie, Benji, Prince and Hodgson came on more than a little here. The Turd became an elite player. Aloiai, Matterson, Luc and the list goes on.

I can't stand him.
Probably meant no player here has had a career here without a roller coaster of form slumps

For all the good benji / Robbie were for us, there were still some very dark days with them

💯 still a peanut though

And the more I research him the more I'm warming to the Wayne Lambkin option. Like Georgallis, has that Western Suburbs history and his work with youth at Westfields/Roosters/Manly & Magpies is exceptional - he is held in very high regard by many current NRL players who played under him & also the junior talent (and parents) coming through now from Westfields. As a 'development coach' with the right assistant support around him, I can see this working!

Agree on the documentary……bad call, but the club went into the year with high hopes of success….sadly it never materialised….
