Wests Tigers Coaches

If either is deemed as taking over after Sheens 2 years as coach, I think they would definitely have some say in the longer term deals in particular.

I reckon Benji could sway some players over to the club. Been around a few different team environments and would surely be popular with some young ones coming through.
Yes it would be interesting to see if they still command respect from the current generation of players considering they haven't been out of the game for that long

That is your opinion which I don't share. No player in the NRL is "meek as a baby cat". That's a poor comment to make.
Not surprising - You don't share lots of people opinions....

I don't believe they will be the major assistants but that is up to the club. That is just my view but I have no issue if they are appointed. They are tow of the best players we have produced.
2 of the best Players we ever produced... Sure
Good Players don't make automatic coaches just because that's what they decide that day....

Even at that, Our 2 best players couldn't win more than 50% of the time at this club - When Playing is what they've done for most of their lives.
Actually, Their winning percentage here at WT's isn't that much better than Madges (Who you've made no secret you consider a complete failure)

Does that mean if Madge got his win rate up 10% he also gets any job he chooses until the end of time?

Again, Far too many people in this organisation that have hung their hat on something they did 20 odd years ago...
It ain't right - and it won't work

This is where Sheens' experience and tactical nous comes into consideration. We all know who put together this squad but I remain optimistic that there will be improvement.

When - Next year when a heap of crap[ players are gone and 2 of the best players in the game will come....
Of course there'll be improvement - We might even make the finals.
and Sheens will be there for all the glory.

The Twitter rumour that Gildart will be at the Dolphins is a great start if true. Promote some younger players, sure they'll make mistakes but will learn.

Not really. To all and sundry including his favourites. He lacks the one fundamental skill that every halfback needs. A kicking game.
It ain’t coaching it’s ability.
Paired alongside someone who can actually kick a ball he looks ok.
But well most teams just recruit a halfback that can do it for their self.
Brooks is a very low IQ player, so playing in the halves will never work, his kicking game is just an extra problem he has. Look at last week, leading 12-6 with a player in the bin, Brooks chip kicks on the second tackle, we lose the ball and get scored against, a rookie half wouldn't make that mistake

Flanagan reviewed the skills of his playing group and implemented a playing style which matched the skillsets of his players. This is the opposite to Maguire who has had a one style fits all approach ie his style.

I'm looking forward to Sheens' game plans. No doubt they will very different to those of Maguire, better matched to the skillsets of our players.
Was it not flanagan that organised performance enhancing injections for his players and banned for a lengthy period.

The big issue with that is the getting scored against. Four times in 12 minutes I think. You would think there weren’t 11 other players out there.

I agree - Sheens is not an idiot. He would only take on the role if he believed the club was finally on the right track. Benji has said that Sheens sees the group of juniors coming through as better than those of the 05 era.

They'll have to be - The whole competition is better....
Humans are more developed than they were 20 years ago.
There weren't Jason Taumalolo's running around in 05
Kikaus' etc....

Kids these days are enormous...

Benji could really help convincing players to come on board, can he coach, not so sure

Hard to say. That move has Toby Sexton or Sam Walker all over it.
Didn’t we just see Cleary give up a 4 pointer by doing the exact same thing.
Right move, poor execution. Especially with 1 less man to attack with, did you see the tigers scoring on a set defence during that period?

So you represent the views of others on this forum as that comment was a response to one user? MMM

Feel free to post any content where anyone is "praying" for Madge to come back. My issue is that they turfed him with zero plan in place. It's apparent they hadn't identified a replacement, and if they had, an agreement in principle was not reached. Instead a public circus has ensued, played out in full eye of the media including an embarrassing rejection by a nobody and then slinking away to try to coax someone else into the role, with any potential applicant knowing full well they are second best.

If Sheens works a miracle and we become competitive, he will have my support. Until then I am extremely unenthusiastic about appointing a coach who has experienced less success than his predecessor in the last decade.

That's his problem. Well 2 problems, doesn't have it between the ears and melts when the pressure goes on.

Halves simply cannot be confidence players, if they make mistakes and go into their shell they're not going to succeed.
