If Brooks was hungry for the ball like Hastings I think he'd be a good half for us. Always darting through the middle, ball in his hands, distributing this way and that. But Brooks is far too passive for that sort of play, so he ends up in wide positions and he's not really strong enough to threaten defenders out there. Around the middle playing a little like Jahrome Hughes, his speed could be a weapon and forwards wouldn't be able to bunch tackle on our forwards as much because he could expose gaps in the defensive line around the ruck. But he just goes missing in games and doesn't want the ball.
He's been unsuccessfully doing that horrible too fast short ball to forwards for his whole career. I just don't understand things like how he hasn't adjusted that pass.
I think there are better options for our first grade team.
