Wests Tigers Coaches

In the first part of that interview, for some reason cut from the attached, Sheens was asked about the coach selection process. He said firstly it was Lee and Pascoe who demanded Madge was punted. They were confident they would get Ciraldo and when that fell over, Lee and Pascoe put Benji and Farah on the top of the list. Sheens was initially against the idea. He said coaching is a 24/7/365 occupation and any outside distraction such as a media job or running a business would not work. Over several interviews, apparently lasting for hours, Benji and Robbie convinced him they were prepared to forgo everything else they currently have going to concentrate on coaching.
It appears Sheens is beholden to the board and simply doing his best with their demands, crazy or not.
Thanks for posting, legend.

It just gets worse.

Lee said after the inquisition last year that he didn’t understand coaching but he now obviously understands matey mates.

Tim should have stood his ground and refused to deal with this ridiculous proposal that he is already excusing himself of before it starts.

They blame Tim, he blames them and we get patted on the head…aka we get shafted.

Arthur or Hook would be a much better option for us at this time.

At least they know what they’re doing.

I’m not signing up to this captains call rubbish.

Listened to Sheens' interview on ABC Grandstand with Moore and Lewis, aside from stating the glaringly obvious that we don't have points in us, he has a worrying amount of blind faith in Marshall being able to take over from him after two years as an assistant coach. The two most recent graduates into NRL that I would consider successful, both Fitzgibbon and Payten, have done extensive apprenticeships leading in to their promotions. Unless Marshall is leaning toward being a man manager Bennettesque type coach and expects to have a roster that requires minimal coaching, he will be an abject failure I believe.
It's not blind faith necessarily, it's staying on message.

Sheens will not make any quip, comment or half-hearted statement to suggest to the media that he has anything but 101% confidence in Benji Marshall.

Scotty Prince has been in contact with Sheens about a role at the club, not sure what specifically or if it goes any further, but personally would love him as coach for the 6/7 or kicking coach or something, Clive Churchill winner, smart footy player, great kicking game and good mentor for young blokes, battled through injury and adversity and made a nice career for himself
