The talk of Benji’s appeal is a bit of a head scratcher. It’s not like players flocked to play with him as a player. And he has no runs on the board as a coach. Whatever little appeal there is will disappear if doesn’t coach a winning team.
It makes absolutely zero sense. Good point about his playing ability struggling to attract talent.
I doubt he is attracting talent unless it’s 34 years old and looking for an easy run into retirement.

Maybe well respected as one of the boys....he might attract players for a night on the piss or a day at the races, naaah...more likely a weekend at a wellness clinic

Respected as a coach...nup

Because he is well respected...
One of the boys.

Hopefully he can coach though.
He was very popular as a player and didn’t have our doors kicked down by awesome backs who wanted to run off him.
If a marque player signed with us so he could be coached by Benji, I’d question his IQ to be fair.
I think our best chance is that his and Robbie’s presence will keep juniors here.

There’s no real logic to it when he didn’t even have that pull as a player.

Players don't do recruitment.. especially ones with 1/2 year deals in the twilight of their careers. Working with Benji would be quite the draw for a few boys, better working environment, more in touch etc. You're being facetious by suggesting Benji & the new brigade has no pull power

It's the Billy slater logic.
Totally different.
For starters, that was a rep side
For seconds, Billy is the top 1% of the elite
For thirds, Billy wasn’t a draw card, they played for the jersey
Additional benefits included interaction with Locky, Cam and Thursto.

No I’m not, and I’m not alone believing it. Players want to win. Therefore Benji needs the results on the board before he has the luxury of being a drawcard for opposition players.
