Wests Tigers Coaches

I like the bit where Ben Gardiner is potentially getting credit, so I am reading, for the performance of a team selected and coached by Noddy, overseen by Sheens and for which he was pulled in to oversee at the last minute.

Then he grinned excessively, uncomfortably and played down his press conference of the biggest debacle in 10 years of rugby league. I'm not saying he should have gone after the NRL, but if there was ever a pacifist low-energy response to a shocking ref's call that would placate exactly zero fans, Ben Gardiner achieved it.

Not slagging the guy off, he might be great, but I don't think this one match proves it one way or another.

Reckon it would be pretty easy to come in for 1 week with the pressure on every one else after getting robbed

Than coming in on the back of 8 consecutive whippings and trying come up with a different spin than you've used for the previous 7 weeks....

100% agree with you...
At the time because everyone was so angry I thought his response in the presser was piss weak.

But look at it from his point of view... he just got told he was unwanted next year, so why would he stick up for us...?

I agree with the grinning, that was super awkward and unusual considering the outcome of the game.

I do feel that players respond to him and that contributed to the effort that was shown by all 17. Just a feeling though, impossible to know for certain.

Ben Gardiner should have taken over from Madge. His presser was all class,
Weak as water. Roosters know how you get a reaction from HQ. We didn’t even mention that it’s not good enough. Pascoe and Lee tried to correct it but the news cycle has moved on.

I actually thought his press conference was extremely professional.

But at the time I didn't want professionalism, I wanted someone to chuck a wobbly that I didn't have to pay for.

Yep. Noddy came in talking about having fun. A few weeks later you could see he and the team weren't having fun.

I quite enjoyed listening to this pod released today (it was recorded a few months back). Gives a lot of good insights into the pathways and a good discussion about having a permanent home moving into the future!
