Apparently it has all been soughted so it's still going to be a 2yr deal worth just over 200k. Happy days.

Are you allowed to play a top 30 player 62k or 110k? I thought the minimum wage was above that?

It’s 110k minimum . The development contracts are like 88k I think

I would have given him the top job in front of Benji. I have watched him closely for a couple of seasons now and he seems to have a great connection with the players and is well respected .

Needs to drop about 10 kg to be an effective 6.

Maybe an incentive based contract would work. Really need to be careful with this type of player. We've been burned before.

To be honest... next year with Api he is likely to play 80mins or close to...
So i'd be focussing on Rua Ngatikaura as that hybrid hooker/middle forward role.

To be honest, I also have seen more from Brown than I have from Simkins

I don’t believe our halves trust them. A. They’re leaving and B. They mostly just plod. Prime example Kelma clearly over ran Brooks on that pass meaning the only option was to hit him low on the right hip and the rest was history. Should not have passed it but probably won’t next time.

I think he was meant to be running decoy and Brooks passed it to him anyway. That happens.

A coaching pathway for one and the rest can stay in reserves. Gardiner will be one that goes on to coach firsts elsewhere imo.

I don't know what we can possibly gain from this.

What if he does an ACL or has more concussions in the finals? He becomes less valuable to us even though he has a guaranteed salary.

If it goes well, he might try and stay there and there is no way Melbourne will pay for his full contract value.

Funny that no other club agreed to this other than Wests Tigers.

$100k saving is what we gain for a bloke who's playing reserve grade

Simpkin is 20. You'd have to be a freak physically to be going well at 9 at that age, let alone have the talent. Put Rua or Tallyn there when they're 20 and I doubt they're any better

I'd say that it's in Jake's best interest to be playing 80mins a week in Cup than 25 minutes in NRL. He missed so much development due to Covid

120 is minimum but development contract is 62k. Might be 200 over the 2 yrs with 2024 top 30
