The problem is with the quality of the roster and always has been no matter how many coaches we go through - or people who try to convince you otherwise.

Yep. I think our big issue is our top tier players aren't very good. We have Hastings (only this season), Doueihi and Brooks. Maybe you can throw Laurie in there.

Compare those guys to players like Munster, Ponga, Tedesco, Tommy Turbo, Sualli, Manu, Mitchell etc.

Until we get a better roster I can't see us competing consistently with the top teams.

It's interesting seeing Gildart being picked in the centres against us. He had a chance with us and didn't perform.

What makes it worse is that I don't think we can pay overs and be successful either. Look at the Titans getting Fifita.

I think our only chance is smart roster management and junior development.

What's funny is people tend to blame players more often than not when it's clear our team is poorly coached on defensive positioning and structures.
I have all our games recorded for last 2 years so I go back and rewatch with particular emphasis on our backline . What I noticed is how rarely anyone passed him the ball everyone was crabbing across field till everyone has run out of room .Toa was particularly guilty of this . The big exception was the 2 surprise wins we had rd 6 and 7 where he scored a double in both .Brooks also got 2 cut out balls to him in last 10 mins he played for us
In defence the winger has 2 options either take the guy one in or stay out for their winger but whatever way you do it the center and edge forward must be on the same page .

The Storm have or had John Donehue as their wresting coach. The Tigers have or had Anthony Perosh. Perosh was definitely the wrestling coach under Madge.

I know which guy is much more credentialed.

I wish it was as simple as just teaching them how to win the collision.
How often did he train with WT? I don’t see his name mentioned anywhere?

What amuses me is that many on this forum were rubbishing him for the last year and he's not good enough for WT .So he goes to Storm and gets instructions on positional play and he's following his instructions and doing his job . No tries on his side . Why does he generate so much comment ?
I hope he does well and comes back .Some hope he fails im not one of them
Maybe they put him in his place down there and he has to do what he’s told or else.

So, does that put Brooks in the same group?
The club’s off field mistakes have no bearing on the on field performance, according to Hagipantelis?
Brooks is definitely a casualty of the off field mistakes like the coaching merry go round, salary cap fines etc

IMO if he leaves he won’t find form like Nofa has as his confidence is shot. However, leaving is his best chance of rediscovering the promise he once had.

All he needs is a well structured team capable of bending the line.

I have tended to agree, his best chance to rediscover his love for the game is possibly at another club. However, there is also a possibility that he can be rejuvenated with a total change in perspective.
I think Madge was put under too much pressure to give Brooksy his head. Even with previous coaches who were also saying “it’s your team Brooksy, it often seemed incongruous to the repetitive attacking style he displayed. I would say with the sort of style Sheens and Benji have in mind he is better off staying and proving all his detractors and critics on this forum wrong.

One of the tests I give a half back is how many line drop outs do the other team have to do . Check the tapes we achieve this less than just about any team however any half behind a pack with no go forward has very little decision making time

Cmon Let's be real he has been fine most of his career, The last 2yrs however he has been well off his game. That is on Madge for not being able to motivate and drive him.

Nofa sucks in defence most wingers do, Nofa strength is always with the ball. It's funny that a few games in he has all of a sudden found his game. That is on the coach. Add to this that if you put any winger outside of one of the best defensive centers in the game Olam and they will have alot easier job than what the same winger would have here by a mile.
The only difference in Nofa is he is not walking around like he is God's gift. He has always been a good finisher in a rubbish team. Now he just happens to be playing in a good one with a winning mentality.

Nofo will score in a semi but they lose and get eliminated.

He kisses his jerseys then declares he isn't coming back cos he's a winner and belongs at a winner club like Melbourne.

Craig then tells Nofo he is no longer wanted.
Begs to come back and then remains leading try scorer.... for the magpies.
Noticed Nofa has not lost his cross field runs, happy if Belamy can get that out of him

I’ve put Gildart in a multi. Only paying 2.60 any time tryscorer. He’s a shoe in

He can certainly break a tackle, but often fails to pass to support when free to do so. As others have stated, much of his game can be improved with an attitude adjustment same goes for all of us.

I can't remember. I do know the last two contract seasons when he looked like going to EELS he played well. If you say he's been fine most of the last 9 years then I trust your judgement.

Nofa refused to dump on the Tigers when drilled about our issues after the game.

I salute him for that.

Too many times ex players stick the knife in get ugly.

Tedesco barely misses an opportunity to rubbish us, even years after he left.

Why? Because he’s a low gutted dog.
He's not an ex player.

So many bitchy comments . I just judge these guys on football ability and ignore all the stuff that's based on social media . Now they are complaining about his runs .His ARM was 188 and tackle breaks an incredible 15 and errors 0. Talk about sucks in defence watch AJ tonight
