Coaches Corner

I never blamed Sheens.

Was stating that it is a poor look on the club that when we win games Sheens and Benji seem to be in the midst of the changerooms but, coincidently, when we are getting pasted on the field they are nowhere to be seen.
These 2 blokes are going to be responsible for the fortunes of our club for the next 5 years.
It just reeks of an unprofessional club from an outsiders POV.
What reeks of unprofessionalism, is sacking a coach for a gamble that another might show up ( who doesn’t) appointing yourself instead ( ignoring at least 17 applications) and then giving your protege a job after yourself who has no coaching experience of any kind whatsoever.

That’s pretty much millions of dollars over the next five years straight to two people.

Add the fat unnecessary Madge payout.

We are the most unprofessional rugby league club in the history of the game at the moment.

Wests Tigers officials are not just unprofessional but basically unemployable.

At our work, we would beat WT officials away with a stick if they came too close to our front door.

Just even the act of sacking Maguire was handled so pathetically.
The powers that be decide that it is a good idea to sack him on a Thursday or whatever it was, giving a rookie coach just 2 or 3 days to jump in and try to prepare the team for the next game. No surprise that we lost that game.
To at least soften the blow of an unfortunate situation surely someone with half a brain would've put forward the idea of doing it straight after the previous weeks' match to at the very least give the new coach a full week to prepare?
Extremely unprofessional club in every sense.

What are we gonna call our trio (Sheens,Benji & Farah )
Three musketeers
Three amigos
Three stooges
Three kings
Three men & a baby
????????????
Any other suggestions ?

He has to start putting his foot down now, maybe he has started tapping blokes on the shoulder telling them they're not required next year, maybe that's why they're not having a dig. They need to be reminded about personal pride and representing themselves, that loss was just soft, I don't think too many people expected us to win, but not to lose by 66 points, they need a rocket up them all.

James Graham says hi , I can prep these bludgers up , sign him up , guy is loaded with passion and would have a real point to prove now after Dragons sacking , guy knows aggression and passion for you jumper
Yes, there is a lot I like here:
James Graham would add grit to the training. He clearly has experience.
He would bring the Dragons methodology across. I actually think the Dragons are under-rated. Add Paul Vaughan back last season and they make the 8...

We must look outside the Benji/Farah/Sheens trio. Maybe this team can work but we need to fix the GRIT problem. Graham could do that.

I am calling this out again, because I don't get it.

Start of the year were 2 big changes. Jackson Hastings and Nathan Cayless as Assistant coach. apparently Nathan has a good rep at other clubs.

What happened?

I expected our forwards to improve, our defense maybe a little but worried that Cayless would not know how to manage defensive structures and our Center/wings would leak.

Well our center/wings leaked points, but so did our forwards!
Madge is still calling for Cayless at New Zealand. Whatever Cayless did, madge thinks he did right (unsure if he is the best benchmark?)

Some are saying we need a tackling coach. Do we just not have enough invested in beefing up our forwards? Remember start of the year many saw us making the 8.

Yeah, however troubled the first 30 mins, there were good passages of scramble and commitment.

But then the second half was a meek surrender, packed with lacklustre effort.

And I would have thought it was up to all of the coaching staff and helpers to get the job done in the players minds.

There is no excuse, but the roosters really opened up and started scoring at will.

James should never have been sent off. Refs need to understand the frustration of the drubbing and tension.

There was really nothing in it.

Yeh , maybe they were told after the Sharks game? Sure the roosters game was a 'punch in the face' but its not the first time for us, we have been belted more times than Len Wickwar. The tactic of kicking the ball dead was a time waster. if they hadn't done that the score may have been higher?

Even that tactic of deliberately kicking it over the sideline so early in the game was a gutless tactic. It was highlighting the statement "we cannot beat you blokes so we will just play negative footy to hopefully avoid a flogging". The only way we would have been any chance whatsoever of getting close to the Roosters would've been by playing as attacking as possible.
IMO Kimmorley is just a temporary talking head who is being told what style to play and which players to select every week since his appointment as HC. So I wonder who would've instructed him to tell the players that negative, gutless gameplan?
