Apologise to Madge HERE

Yeah...laughing and saying "see, I was right...Zane Musgrove for four years!".

Laughing also and saying "I built the worst pack in the NRL...i even almost convinced Tuilagi to sign on for 3 more!".

#useless
But what money is Zane on compared to Russ Packers $million to play reggies every few weeks? The devil is in the details.

The same people calling for Maguire to be sacked for his poor results with the squad, now recognizing the squad was no good.
News flash no coach has been able to attract the calibre of players to this club good enough to compete at the back end of the competition the very reason why we can't attract coaches now either.

Probably the same group blaming a certain halfback for all our losses.

I don't see Madge as the problem. I think he made some good signings. Luc, Matterson were both good signings for us. I much prefer Madge's signings to Cleary's.

Madge also picked up Api and IP.

He also signed Stef and Musgrove who have had their moments and may give us some good service.

We lost Luc, Aloiai and Matterson and we are losing Tuilagi. I reckon we could use any of them right now.

He also hasn't really bought on any juniors.

I definitely don't blame him for our current position but it's professional footy.

I mean no disrespect to Madge or the players and know it's not entirely his/their fault and that Hartigan was responsible for building the roster but of all the years I can recall watching us I'd never seen a Wests Tigers team frightened to have a go until he came aboard.
We've had some crap teams that showed a fairly consistent effort of putting in.
Taylor may have driven away our juniors, Ivan wasted our cap.
But when the existence of sports is for competition, or competing to win (with balancing and overcoming physical limitations at the basis of this) and the coach is unable to improve the same squad of players as the previous coach, it's perplexing.
So as stated in my first sentence, I mean no disrespect however in terms of the direction of the team, I only see Madge's tenure as the worst in our in our history purely because it created a culture of checking out.

Though at the back end of their careers, releasing Packer, Lawrence Matulino, Benji, ET etc and not having a similar value/influence of replacements - leadership wise - was very detrimental.

Hey, you compare one underperforming player with another...What do you get?
An underperforming player.

Madge and the signing team did a lot of Moneyball picks. Some like Alex Twal wern't too bad. Yet it all seemed to be based on "player X is worth 350, but we can get them on 300". It means we end up with a lot of Fringe graders and no team...

There also wasn't a long term plan in place. We signed James Roberts and BJ Leulia I thought to toughen up the middle. Then we sign Gildart?? HUH?

Just listened to his interview on SEN. Sounds tired and disinterested and talks a lot of corporate spin. Is proud of people in the organisation. We need someone with fresh ideas.

We signed cheap crap cos Packer Moses and Reynolds took up the cap. They were Madge’s marquee players along with Brooks. he did not choose or sign them.

Every single one of our board and CEO have been associated with the failure as a club but some of them will have to die to be removed as they won't voluntarily quit for the benefit of our club

Poor cattle, but a lot of the recent players were young. He didn’t improve them.

Skills were poor, no structure or gameplan and players were afraid to play.

Tiger town was embarrassing. Showed a coach devoid of ideas and unable to connect with his troops

Madge was lumped with Packer and Reynolds, sure.

When Madge picked, he picked Roberts and BJ... Then he flicks BJ and almost flicks Roberts.
Coaches will pick duds, every coach. What I don't get is Madge clearly was making plans for our back line. Picking Roberts and BJ made me think those plans were about defense.

They were not. Madge had no idea.

Pure maths. When you have packer on 900+ Reynolds 800+ Mbye 900+ brooks 800+ u have to save pennies somewhere, Madge signed poor players on the cheap because he had no cap room to work with. When he cleared some room to go after a genuine star (Mitchell), he didn’t want to play with Cleary’s duds. Madge was between a rock and a hard place with poor cattle.
