2023 Expectations

Very interesting, I don’t know much of that era or the players, your cousin Christopher McKivat would have played during the Frank Burge era, post WW1?
Gosh mate, you’ve come from a very impressive gene pool. Rugby League is in your blood. 👍
I just sent you his bio mate.

Unless we're signing 3-4 star rookies and giving them more money and opportunity than other clubs, we'll be in a similar position next season.

The big challenge is always how we're comparing to clubs who have finished around us on the ladder.

We have a few good established signings coming on board but are losing some of our best too (Garner, Tuilagi).

We're only going to get better as a club once everyone realises that we aren't going to be able to buy our way up the ladder.

On the plus side, loaning out a few guys frees up some cap room for next season, so hopefully there's something happening behind the scenes

The team next year even without any signings is light years better than what’s out there now. It’s no where near a finals team though.

1. Laurie
2. Nofa
3. Naden
4. Tupou/Toa
5. Maumalo
6. Douihei
7. Brooks
8. Utoikamanu
9. Api
10. Ofehengaue
11. Papalli
12. Matamua
13. Hastings
14. Pole
15. Rua
16. Musgrove
17. Tumeth

We need another edge second rower, centre and an experienced prop at a minimum next year. We need to attract talent similar to the Api and Papalli signings. In addition a few of these kids have to come through each year and move out some existing starters

Not bad good 17 just hope Matamua is up to it and now knows the rules
Also no nothing about Tumeth maybe NuBrown?

Battling to avoid another spoon. Sheens making lots of comments about development, learning and inexperience in press conferences.

Weeping fans wondering when someone is going to turn a listing ship around

Can appreciate he's trying to weather the storm. Especially after years of Pascoe and co. successfully convincing fans that aging players, fringe first graders and unwanted juniors (from other clubs) are going to turn around this club's fortunes. Meanwhile ignoring the bigger problems.
We blindly followed and I think they finally get it that they can't fool us anymore and that we ain't gonna let up.

His assessment after the Bulldogs loss was brutal but honest. We don't have a team that can go through, around or over others. Or whatever words he spoke.
We've been stupidly hoping a coach can do it alone though his methods.

Mate I thought I'd change it for a while in memory of another cousin of mine, Christopher McKivat.
A Rugby Union and Rugby League International.
Wallabies captain, won Olympic gold medal and captained the Kangaroos in 1911-12.
Also Coached North Sydney Bears to premiers in 1921-22.
So I have Norm and Peter Provan and Chris McKivat as cousins, both on dads side. I would have loved to have met Chris.
Mate that's a pretty good pedigree

Experienced prop.

.... Twal.

I think if we can keep Hastings & our spine fit we’ll have some points in us. It’s a matter of whether or not we can defend. Looking forward to getting Stefano, Blore & Twal back in the 17. Hopefully more juniors step up too. A guy like the Boccincini could really have a big impact for us off the bench!
