Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My three points re this piece:
1. Don't you just hate the smarmy, asshole Hooper's tone.
2. IF we are in the race - go for it - but FFFFSS keep quiet about it (looking at you Lee) no fricking pr releases when/if we put in an offer or when we don't sign him - seriously!!!!
3. He won't come here.
4. Don't you just f#cking hate Hooper. (an extra point worth re-iterating)

100%, all of the "media" would never attack the interests of the Storm, Broncos, or Rorters. 🤬

“If I go one more year, I’m not there to win you a comp, I’m there to help grow the club, the team, grow the young ones and help them get there. I’m the guy who comes off the bench and flies into people for ten, 20 or 30 minutes, and do a job. It’s all about giving back.”

IMHO, Fifita would be a good signing.
Yes, sharks reserve grade. Would walk into our current First grade.

I really like points 1, 2, and 4.
Point 3 annoys me, but yeah.

Tigers’ shock $7m Munster play to blow NRL rivals away

You’ve got to hand it to the Wests Tigers for trying to think outside the square. In line to get the club’s first-ever wooden spoon, the Wests Tigers have hatched a plan to make an audacious play aimed at signing the NRL’s best player – Cameron Munster.

Yes, you read that correctly, the Tigers are going to try and throw their hat in the ring with the Queensland and Australian five-eighth.

The way we’ve heard it the Tigers are talking about making Munster a five-year, $7 million offer aimed at blowing the Melbourne Storm and the Dolphins out of the water.

Fresh off the back of being flogged by 70 by the Sydney Roosters, it’s clear the ailing club needs a circuit breaker signature.

Sure Api Korisau and possibly Isaiah Papali’i will arrive next year but the Tigers are going to need to get a hell of a lot busier in the open market to fix the current plight of the club.

Munster, 27, is precisely the type of key signing who could help stop the rot at Concord.

You can’t blame them for dreaming – remember the Tigers also sounded out Sydney Roosters captain James Tedesco recently – but the chances of it happening are in all likelihood Buckley’s and very little.

The Tigers virtually have an open cheque book to spend for 2024 with a host of top 30 players including Adam Doueihi, Luke Brooks, Jackson Hastings, Daine Laurie, Shawn Blore, Joe Ofahengaue, Alex Seyfarth and Tuki Simpkins all off contract.

Tigers incoming coach Tim Sheens has arguably the greatest challenge of his decorated rugby league career in trying to fix the bun fight that is Concord.

At least the club’s succession plan of Benji Marshall taking over as head coach in 2025 is guaranteed to give the Wests Tigers some pulling power in terms of current players who are off contract.

The last five-year deal the Tigers floated was to incoming Canterbury-Bankstown head coach Cameron Ciraldo.

The risk with this Munster play is it will end with a similar result.

Sheens has already come out squashing this piece

According to Sheens, We don't need the best Fullback and 5/8 in the game??

We're obviously going better than I thought we were...

What is this thing lots of you members have about Tim Sheens Age, He is 71, Wayne Bennett is 72, does this make them stupid, after all they dont have to play the game, they only need to know how its played, and these guys know the ins and outs of the game as they both played it in there younger days, if they gave you the job how do you think you would handle it,
And how old are you.
I am sure Sheens will get more effort, understanding and results from his players than Madge ever did. Even by next season.

If we were to sign Munster and he became injured as, for example, Doehi did this season the club would be up the proverbial with no money at all left to buy any other players.

Was wondering how long it'd take for a lazy reporter to say we’re offering Munster a massive offer. No surprise it’s Hooper, also have no doubt it’s made up. Sheens has said he knows what our spine is going to be for the next 5 years. Expect recruits, but not in those positions.

I hope we strongly consider Fifita. Brings ...

1. Wests Tigers DNA
2. Impact of the bench for 20-25 mins/game (especially since we have long minute props like Offa, Pole, Twal & hopefully Stefano eventually long minute)
3. Experience & good D (98% tackle efficiency this season)
4. Very good off loader which we need & likely suit Sheens style
5. Someone to lead the young guys - has been through adversity so inspiring teammate.
6. Low cost for 1 year contract

But thought he had a falling out with Sheens when he left Club???
If it happened years ago I don't think Sheens would hold that against Fifita.

You are missing or deliberately avoiding one of the main issues that i raised,it is not just the fact he is 71 it is the fact he has not coached in the NRL for a DECADE.
No club wanted Sheens when we sacked him as a coach and after he coached in the UK and was sacked there on 2 occasions nobody wanted him there either.
For the record since you asked i am 69 years of age and have followed football since unlimited tackle back in the dragon's era of 11 consecutive premierships what about you?
Sorry, but you are talking non sensical rubbish about Sheens,

Bloody Millenials!!

REAL professional footballers do not rule themselves out....
He’s fatigued, from what, playing, training or other.
Biggest load of crap, by him and Broncs, I've ever seen.
Same with the South’s winger !
Let’s hear it in unison “mental health issues”, that’s a reliable crutch.
Toughen up boys , or get a real job !
