Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Elegy was more of a case of trying to get back from a terrible injury and losing hope he would ever be the same again.
Interesting that Cobbo and Taylor, and Latrell Mitchell who disappeared for a while, are all indigenous.
The walkabout culture has been known about for years and could, I repeat could, be part of the reason they can’t hack it.
Even back in Artie Beetsons days I remember he would go missing on the field because of the pressure.
I agree more must be done to educate these young men about the pressures they will face, but until we find out what’s in their chest, we’ll never really know.
These were the days

It doesn’t drive up the price if he doesn’t consider us a genuine option. We drove up Latrells price and he signed for $400k less at Souths.
But I heard his bunny deal was fully back ended.

As good as he is, he spends way too much time on the sidelines either out injured or suspended to be taken seriously. With these impediments, he’s too expensive.

But Munster is Munster, one of the best players of all time. $1.25 minimum.

He shouldn’t get out of bed for the garbage the Storm are offering him. Not even worth fluffing up a pillow.

He should be offended, I mean I’m deeply offended on his behalf and I’ve never met him. Reports of $700.

What planet are the Storm on?

He’s fatigued, from what, playing, training or other.
Biggest load of crap, by him and Broncs, I've ever seen.
Same with the South’s winger !
Let’s hear it in unison “mental health issues”, that’s a reliable crutch.
Toughen up boys , or get a real job !
Tell me more about what you were doing as a 19 year old kid? Did you ever chuck a sickie? These blokes are in a high pressure environment, media/public scrutiny and absolutely battering their bodies. Your weekend entertainment isn't more important than a young kids mental health. The notion that a "real job" is harder than what these guys do is laughable.

I was busting my arse to try and play grade football but not good enough and had 2 jobs as well.
Agree lots more outside noise now but still expect them to front up and play. If they can’t do that tell their club that it’s too much for them and they want to be released.
Someone said earlier that’s it the club not the player who picks the team.
Sorry but can’t agree with you on some of your points.

Was it Hobbo who said in Brisbane he is everywhere his face all over town and talked up as the next super star alot of pressure on the kid let him have a break
On the positive side the Rooster's are looking for outside backs for next year along with Melbourne both are under the cap and looking to improve

My point about a real job is that if they got one they might find that playing pro ball might be a much more lucrative and enjoyable occupation.
Why do you think Bellamy puts these young guys on the tools for 6 months coz he knows that they’ll embrace their position in the club with open arms.

Well he’s having a break so let’s see how he goes in future.
P.S. my blood pressure is falling so that’s a good sign, for everyone.
Now where were we about signing suggestions.

Takes some guts to let people know you are struggling. Especially knowing that Joe blow on the street who will never know what its like to be in your position will be shouting you down as soft. Luckily this generation recognise the need to look after your melon as much as your body. Too many men have lost their lives after thinking they just need to "toughen up"

Fair play to Tim for getting out and putting the breaks on this story, but I'm not sure his inference that we don't need any outside assistance is a winning message.
Classic Wayne Bennett....no way he's not coming here....next day here he is!!!!

Even if it is unrealistic why shouldn't we throw our hat in the ring? If not at least to apply cap pressure to other clubs, why should we make it easy for them.
It would be far more embarrassing not going after decent players because we fear rejection, that is just pathetic.
I agree with this...club gets slammed for making a play and missing, club gets slammed for not having a go....might as well shoot your shot....

I’m going to finish this discussion by saying you are correct on some points and my ideas obviously belong to another time. I will keep them to myself in future.
I recently lost a nephew to suicide after having tried to look after him as his father passed away some years ago.
Went through a lot of the mental health systems and bureaucracy so do understand it, from the inside.
Go well players and fans.
