Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Nah Paws your just like most of us you have favourites that you can find excuses for and others not.
The realistic view is that they are all or have been on a hiding to nothing until someone/or the system allows us to assemble a roster able to compete in FG - something that we consistently fail to do.
I am firmly of the view there is more to this squad than what we witnessed over the last 4 years. The rush to denigrate it on this forum is for one purpose only but I won't revisit that again.

Whats the chances something like this could happens?
Lets assume hes on $800k considering there are reports of $925k would the dogs pay 50% freight to bin him off. Im not saying what you're suggesting isnt right it just seems far fetched on the face of it.
And yes at that price i take him in a heart beat.
The dogs are going to have to move some players on pretty soon. They don't want the registrations of their big signings dragging on to far in to the off season. Hope all clubs hold their nerve and let Gus sweat a bit. Could be a real fire sale around Xmas time.

Love to see us land a really big fish like this guy but this looks like either the usual agent driven garbage to drive up a client's price or some media idiot inventing a story
Munster doesn’t need anyone to drive his price up. It’s either total BS or we have infact had a conversation. If anything gets to $$$ talk then things have been more than a conversation.

We do know Hooper makes up BS stories often to keep the pages turning.

Munster is not the be all we need , we have to very good first graders coming in Appi and Papi we just need 3 more solid first graders to add to that , we do have young guys like Pole , Steph etc would will get better over the next 12 months , Munster money is worth spending on 2 good first graders at $ 750 k each or similar , yes Munster would be great but he would not come hear , I don’t believe he is the type

Mixture of good/bad news:

Few questions asked about junior players signed up, the following below names have committed to the club.

Kade Hill
Luke Laulilii
Kit Laulilii
Jordan Miller
Tallyn Da Silva
Tajh Colquhoun
Livai Saukuru
Apisalome Saukuru Development Deal 2023
Kitione Kautoga Development Deal 2023
Michael Tannous & CJ Mundine (being discussed for other development spots for 2023)

Re-signing News:

As well reported Adam Doueihi has put contract talks on hold for the time being, this is not going down well with some management & don't want to get involved in a bidding war.

Joe Ofahengaue's management recently rejected latest contract offer, Dolphin's & Storm in frame, not looking good.

Brandon Tumeth & Fa'amanu Brown re-signing should be announced soon.

Tommy Talau will be one Train & Trial deal over the off-season (Similar To Roberts last off-season), has had offers from 1 other club but want's to return the faith.

Jackson Hastings: Important meeting scheduled in the next week where the 1st official contract offer is expected to be presented. Confidant a deal will be done.

Madden looks all but done to the Panthers.

Gildart, Peachey, Simpkins, & Liddle all expected to be gone over the off-season as previously reported.

Player Signings:

Cameron Munster has not been discussed or met with the club, salary cap suicide to tie up that much money in one player in the hope they are the savor.

Phoenix Crossland is being discussed as a replacement signing for Madden to cover in the halves.

Jason Batman: Discussions have been had but the transfer fee has all but killed this from happening, unless it drops a fair bit it won't be happening.

Jack Murchie, Matt Doorey & Jackson Topine have all be discussed in recent recruitment for forward depth.

Aaron Woods looks less likely to join the club, "positive" discussions had a few weeks ago but crickets since (hopefully stays that way)

Charlies Staines is a good chance to come on board for 2023 but only if Panthers come to the party. Club is willing to match his salary at Panthers over 2 years if Panthers put in $150k for year 1 & 100k for year 2. So far this has been well received.

Nathan Brown similar to the above in relation to Eels coming in the with the right $
Don't see this deal coming through.

Clubs main priority for 2023 recruitment is a experienced (not old) starting 2nd rower.
Hopefully able to sign one for 2024 & gain an early release.

Andrew Fifita: Nothing has been officially mentioned about making a play for him. Personally would prefer him over Woods.

As for November 1, Liam Martin & Dylan Brown as going to the be the clubs Number 1 targets.
The club will not sit idle & wait for Doueihi, if he's not willing to commit then the club is prepared to offer a decent deal for Brown (Benji is a big fan). A impact forward is also on this list, but not willing to blow the budget. Hoping the young forwards coming through can fill this need.

Fans won't want to hear this but 2023 salary cap wise is going to be about getting it in an even healthier position for 2024, so the right kids can be kept & a chance to bring in the better players we need, unless a big fish "like Brooks" was moved on & cleared a large amount of money not expecting a big fish signing as such for 2023.

I take a different and realistic view. After the last (nearly) 4 years it is going to take take time to turn around results, culture and level of skill. I am trying not to be too negative but I hope I never witness a WTs' team playing robotic football again.

If I see players working as a team, team performances improving (even if we don't win), individual skills of our roster improving, players being encouraged to use instinctive play (especially fullback, halves, lock and hooker), leadership skills being developed in the squad, improved defence and improving ability to "win the big moments in a game", I will be satisfied.

This was consistent with my view under the previous Coach.

My expectations are higher for next season than this season. They've sacked the coach with the narrative that the coach is the issue.

In reality though unless we get some decent signings I still think we have a bottom 4 roster.

Thanks The Pom for your updates. Can we assume that Luke Brooks will not be offered a new deal beyond 2023.

As well reported Adam Doueihi has put contract talks on hold for the time being, this is not going down well with some management & don't want to get involved in a bidding war.

We should only go to a certain level and a pay cut is probably required.

Joe Ofahengaue's management recently rejected latest contract offer, Dolphin's & Storm in frame, not looking good.

I think we will have to let him go. He is our best player but we can't keep re-signing guys who only stay on top dollar.

I think it's fair to say our recruitment and retention is looking poor and we are hoping/praying the juniors come good.

Overall there doesn't look to be much positive news.

Staines the most likely signing and losing Joe O and potentially Doueihi. That isn't going forward.

I'd still rather not get screwed over by players.

Thanks for the update Pom. Assume we have no interest in Angus Crighton then? Imagine it would take too much to get him from Roosters.
On Woods... rather re- sign Tamou.

Thanks Pom, are we actually expecting Noffa back next year or hoping he stays put? Not sure where Staines will otherwise play.

Personally don't think what Joe is after in unreasonable. Broncos not longer chipping in & only after what a little bit more than he's on now for 3 years.
