I read an article about 4 year ago about player managers.
Not only does a good manager get top dollar but the good ones map out the players career.
The perception that a player goes to a new club for less money as being bullshite is not always correct.
Things like career progression...rep games, preferred playing position, coaching influence, location, lifestyle, family, future money upgrade, time in position. There were more but that's all that come to mind.
The big factor is 💰
Most players, unless marquee, are not in the game for long. The lesser players seem to take the best dollar on offer and longer term for security.
I would love to be a fly on the wall listening to managers and clubs during the interview process.
How good a manager would you be if you new what both clubs are thinking and what they are prepared to offer as a max. 🤔
