Pathways

I watched the 2nd half and very impressed with our junior stock. Patrician Brothers Fairfield won with a last second field goal by Tah'j Colquhoun one of our Cubs. He was really good at 5/8 but played mainly fullback & wing in Harold Matts. Jordan Miller was strong in the middle for the winners & particularly wrapped with his defence including tryline defence.

Westfields came back from 16-4 down at half-time to hit the lead before a late penalty goal & field goal cost them victory. Luke Laulilii was great at the back especially sniffing around the ruck & strong carries. Also thought his brother and captain Kit was strong in the middle & Solomone Saukuru good on the edge. Winger Will Craig scored 2 tries, the first required a bit of strength & Tallyn Da Silva & Heith Pritchard caught the eye also. Pritchard is a real nippy halfback with step & speed.

I do hope that the Laulilii brothers, Tallyn Da Silva, Jordan Miller, Tah'j Colquhoun & Solomone Saukuru are secured long-term!!!

Wrap them away if they are any good

Thanks for the update and good to hear one of our guys came up clutch to win it. Definitely a lot of talent in there! Haven't heard of Pritchard. Any idea where he is contracted?

He played some matches for the Magpies HM team & also toured with the CUBS to Auckland last month where I think he played half or hooker.

@BlackWhiteGold Did Galvin play today for Westfields? Someone mentioned he picked up an injury last week, but came back on at the end.

2023 junior rep?
Must mean 2022 as didn't think we had sorted the rep sides out for next year
With NSWRL extending the age group of junior reps we seem to like holding back our youngsters. Dotoi, Toafaeno, Tempest all played for Wests, Hill and Peni have played for Balmain. It wouldn't surprise me if Chris has already been assigned to one of the two, even though in reality he should definitely go straight to flegg.

This was posted when Fa'agutu made schoolboy reps....looks like he is assigned to Wests. I agree though...if he is of the high calibre it sounds like, I hope they put him straight in Flegg from Round 1 of their season.

We desperately need to announce the re-signings of all of our juniors. The club is banking our future on them yet we still have no idea who's actually signed. As we've found out before there's no point having good juniors if you don't lock them up!!
We don’t need to desperately announce anything. If they are signed they are signed.

Not many clubs make much of announcements for the kids outside of the NRL squads especially a year ahead. They normally get announced when the squads are cut/setup just before the season starts.

If we're taking a development pathways attitude then yes, we need to announce these re-signings. We're banking our future on these kids, the club will be held to account based on who we sign and who leaves, as well as how they progress.

Sure, perhaps not an individual announcement per player, but an announcement or two stating we've secured the following players for our pathways squads wouldn't be hard to do.

I agree it would be good to know but just because nothing has been announced via a media push doesn’t mean the ones we want aren’t signed.

Just copy and pasting the juniors part that the pom mentioned in his update yesterday, so it sits in this thread to discuss:

"Few questions asked about junior players signed up, the following below names have committed to the club.

Kade Hill
Luke Laulilii
Kit Laulilii
Jordan Miller
Tallyn Da Silva
Tajh Colquhoun
Livai Saukuru
Apisalome Saukuru Development Deal 2023
Kitione Kautoga Development Deal 2023
Michael Tannous & CJ Mundine (being discussed for other development spots for 2023)"

What are everyones thoughts on these juniors named if true? Very happy to see most of those names listed, however I really hope we have Galvin locked away too. He has it all in his game. The fact he went to the Cubs tour of NZ tells me that he would be a priority too. Solomone Saukuru the other one I hope out of the Wests teams that is secured.

I like the idea of A. Saukuru, Kautoga and Tannous on development contracts. CJ Mundine makes no sense whatsoever to me though. Played a few Flegg games at the beginning of the year....started at fb, then wing, then bench and has rarely been seen since. Bula would be a better option in my opinion.

Kade Hill might be the halfback the club is pushing for in the future. Certainly has an impact on the Flegg team when he plays. Just needs a bit of size.

There would be more juniors than Pom stated

Does Matamua have a development deal with the club ?
