Pathways

So whats your angle? Don't give it a chance?
My 'angle' is that it's better late than never, but this sudden shift to development shouldn't be held up as a positive for the front office. It's the absolute minimum expectation for a club with our footprint, and it's an indictment on the powers that be that it's taken them so long to catch up with our rivals.
It's also a means to an end, and effectively meaningless unless we can leverage our pathways into success at the senior level.

Haven’t we been a development club for a while?

Signing young guns and junior reps from far and wide under Hartigan, most of whom have proven to be complete shit and not up to first grade standards.

The development players have been punted before they made first grade.

Now we have great developing players like Fainu working their way into the where are they now files

It was interesting how one of the first things Pascoe did when he came to the club was say the club can't afford to focus on juniors and has to target the best players available. This was as the big 4 all buggered off. A knee jerk reaction which cost us dearly over the subsequent years.

Every single club develops juniors. It's not a revolutionary strategy. Many clubs are still lightyears ahead of us with development. Canberra despite all their young talent also signed the hottest young fullback going around from the Sharks, he may have got sent off in the Matts GF against Wests, Chevy Stewart. They don't resteon their laurels with CNK, they go guys Savage too, and HSS and now Stewart. We seem to actively avoid signing good players in positions we have good players in already

we were well n truly broke n pennyless-Tim the weather man was a fiasco before Pascoe arrived

JMO but a functional "development" club would be one that has a conveyer belt of quality talent - to feed into the NRL team.
That's always been my take on what it means.
