But you’re right we’ve moved on a lot since “the old days” so now we have most players, all playing the same systems, without much heads up footy.
It’s amazing how we get enthusiastic about current players who play heads up footy eg Munster. What he does was not that uncommon in past eras.
As he says I’m really hard to play with because I prefer unstructed spur of the moment, heads up footy, in fact sometimes I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
To me they are the exciting ones to watch, whatever the team or the era.
And there’s a big difference in trying to win rather than trying not to lose.
Isn’t that what Sheens did in 05, encouraged flair and attack, why else did he trust a rookie, Marshall, to play it as he saw it.
