Doing the rounds on twitter...Have we been linked to Brad Parker? He’s a great player mate he’s tough and runs a great line and knows how to defend
Who knows if there's substance behind it.

He’s not leaving because Brooks is better, it will be because of someone younger than him showing more promise? Also, he could get 3 or 4 games per season in a top team, which could be enough to catapult his career. Good for him, good luck son.Madden a confirmed goner.
He’s also a 100 gamer who probably has a good grasp on the rules.Have we been linked to Brad Parker? He’s a great player mate he’s tough and runs a great line and knows how to defend
I remember him… I’ll bet plenty of others do too.How is referencing a Winger that finished playing over 50 years ago remotely relevant?
Considering Yow Yeh played 3 Seasons at "Balmain" and finished in 1968 - I very much doubt there is barely anyone that remembers him playing...
Again, I fail to understand the relevance - There's barely even any footage of him.
ps: When another club signs a player you want to keep - It's not considered "Letting them go"
It's considered them Leaving.
@batboy, come on now. Comparing players over different eras will always be an imaginary, but they are great discussions. One of the perks of long-term fandom is being able to make such comparisons and a valued contribution in such a discussion. If I saw (And remembered) Yow Yeh - I'd be 70 odd years old and probably care very little.....
Certainly not enough to be conjuring up imaginary comparisons on an internet forum.

BB Olaf Prattl - my dad fondly remembers how when Yoh Yeh got the ball everyone in the stands stood up. Benji had that same effect IMO. Electric.
I fit the I saw him play category, and I can assure you I care as much now as I did then. Yow yeh was unpredictable and that’s what made him so exciting. Like Corowa or the Fox.If I saw (And remembered) Yow Yeh - I'd be 70 odd years old and probably care very little.....

Why not give the Laurie - Doeuihi - Brooks - Hastings - Korisau spine a try next season under the new style of Sheens. If it works, extend Brooks at that time!
Well said I'm 74 and now feel ancient , The heads up footy is why I saw a little something in Madden a little inexperienced maybe but eyes up instinctive plays wheras I feel Brooks is very structured but with fresh coaching I guess no reason he can't revert back to that style I hope .He does have a bit of speedI fit the I saw him play category, and I can assure you I care as much now as I did then. But you’re right we’ve moved on a lot since “the old days” so now we have most players, all playing the same systems, without much heads up footy.
It’s amazing how we get enthusiastic about current players who play heads up footy eg Munster. What he does was not that uncommon in past eras.
As he says I’m really hard to play with because I prefer unstructed spur of the moment, heads up footy, in fact sometimes I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
To me they are the exciting ones to watch, whatever the team or the era.
And there’s a big difference in trying to win rather than trying not to lose.
Isn’t that what Sheens did in 05, encouraged flair and attack, why else did he trust a rookie, Marshall, to play it as he saw it.
Memories are wonderful, beit footy, females, mates, travel.Appreciate that....
I don't really get the interest in looking back -That far especially
There were some decent teams over the years, Hard to really get off on those highs from back then when there's the lows from last week right there.
Well I’m 70 so not far behind. I feel revitalised since I got on this forum. It’s only since June but was following for a few years before thatWell said I'm 74 and now feel ancient , The heads up footy is why I saw a little something in Madden a little inexperienced maybe but eyes up instinctive plays wheras I feel Brooks is very structured but with fresh coaching I guess no reason he can't revert back to that style I hope .He does have a bit of speed

Lots of like minded people who all love WT.
Thanks to all, young and old, for everything on WTF.
Doesn’t mean the older white tribal elders on here can’t regale you with stories of our Dreamtime !Really.... I'm better than half done and I don't yet.
Each to their own....
My point was the bloke being discussed - I would be suprised if 5% of the people here saw him play....
Like comparing him to Dally Messenger...
Seems irrelevant to me.
Win or lose next year I’m excited to see that sort of football again.I fit the I saw him play category, and I can assure you I care as much now as I did then. Yow yeh was unpredictable and that’s what made him so exciting. Like Corowa or the Fox.

I think @batboy is trying to say that drifting off to relive 50+ year old memories about old players is, objectively speaking, not relevant to the signings, suggestions and rumours thread. He is not saying it’s not worth it to do so…Just that it’s in the wrong filing cabinet, so to speak.Memories are wonderful, beit footy, females, mates, travel.
Part of you is where you’ve come from and where you’ve been and what you’ve experienced.
Nothing better than drifting off in your mind to relive a Yow yeh or a Corowa or a Marshall or a ( please insert) our new star !
Important to live for today and tomorrow but nice to look back.
Believe me, you’ll understand one day !
But maybe only you.Really.... I'm better than half done and I don't yet.

I understand what you, and he, are trying to say but maybe, just maybe we can learn a few things from the past to apply in the future.I think @batboy is trying to say that drifting off to relive 50+ year old memories about old players is, objectively speaking, not relevant to the signings, suggestions and rumours thread. Perhaps start your own thread to discuss players of the past? There seems to be enough of you willing to discuss together.
Or what types of players should we recruit thread.I understand what you, and he, are trying to say but maybe, just maybe we can learn a few things from the past to apply in the future.
Isn’t that why we study history ?
Perhaps the relevance is the type of player we speak of, rather than the actual player.
Happy to take your advice and perhaps we should have a memories thread.
Go Tigers !
