I had a favorite player who wasn't mentioned much his name was Kevin Hardwick and he played well above his weight and had a high workload for the times

Hardwick was such a brave guy and that hair, he always reminded me of the paddle pop lion. 🤣
Hardwick & Hemsley sure had the long flowing locks going on.

Clearing out my dear old mum’s place and I came across my Dad’s old Balmain Leagues 20 & 30 year membership appreciation key rings. Lots of old memories there, one even has his name on it, naturally I now have it on my keys. I probably better remember that if I ever lose my keys that the name on them is not mine.

Miss that place. Legends nightclub was the go. That place was cougar town even before the term cougar was coined. If the walls could talk.
The roast dinner was the best when the bistro was at the front looking over Victoria Rd.
30 years just went like that but feels like yesterday.

Another great memory not sure of year. We had to beat Manly to make to make GF and we had winger called George Ruebener ( not sure of spelling )
Anyway late in game he scored an almost impossible try by barrelling about 5 players out of the way to get to the line .A bit like a Sherman tank or Jonah Lomu

Went straight over Bob Batty Manly’s fullback. Loved Ruebner we got him from Randwick Rugby. He either had a blinder or shocker

Yes, quite an effort. That was 1969 and got us into the GF v South’s - which of course we won.
George was an ex Randwick rugby convert and will 4 ever be remembered for that try !

He was known for dropping passes with the line wide open.

Interesting sequel was that he was replaced at 1/2 time( not sure if he was injured or just hooked) in the GF and Sid Williams, who took his place, scored the only try in the game in the Paddo hill corner. Other points came from Len Killeen, penalties and f/g.

Yes mate, that’s a memory but reckon in 5 years time we will be looking back on 2023 as the year when we really turned it around.

Many of us, for ages wanted him to debut... but he never did it.

Use to carve up the cup games.

Shirnak brothers were hard hitters also

I loved the footy we were playing when Prince and, later, Lui were halfback qwith Benji at 5/8. Neither of those guys ended up coming through for us. Jacko is the best half we've had since then.

anyone still have the "Larry Corowa" Record....... send it out ...... send it out. I think I wore mine out or one of my south Sydney friends destroyed it when i wasn't watching. Used to play it over and over Loved the black flash.
