Wests Tigers Coaches

Sheens pedalled the develpoment
coach garb when he sacked Maguire. If you couldn't see what throwing young players into a squad that hasn't got the leadership and depth of quality to transition them properly happens in our backend results, then you are blindly buying into a dream not the reality. The players we need are at other clubs and what happened under Sheens did nothing to help our cause to get them here.

Put your knife away until next season

People are over-reading the development coach line....
It's very easy to assume that means bringing kids into first grade.

That may well be part of it, But is certainly not the be all and end all.

Development means - Bringing Kids into First Grade AND "Developing and Improving" First grade recruits and existing players.

Argument can certainly be made that while some players came on somewhat under the last coach - I think it would be hard to argue the plateau or regression of some others (If not most)

This is one thing Sheens I'm backing Sheens in...
Back in the day, Not many players came in and went backwards.
(Unless caught by age or injury)
He got better than he should have out of some....

I don't have much faith in him in most things - not even back when he was here last.
But credit where it's due.

We're NOT the worst team in the comp, Ladder position and last few floggings would argue otherwise....
We had the worst squad on paper to start the season, And couldn't keep most of them on the park....
There are teams with out and out superstars - 3-4 Origin players that have only won a couple games more than us...

Not to be reaching, But Luc try in the Warriors game - Wins that game, Madden losing the ball in goal at the death - And we won't mention the cows game....

Those wins - A tiny bit of luck and we're mid table
Still with the worst starting squad in the comp and only fielding 2/3's of it most of the season...

We're crap, But we have far less to worry about that some other teams.

If Sheens can lead the path to success hallelujah - but it will rest with more than him alone. The club has consistently failed to recruit and retain quality players and until we can compete in that arena with other clubs our fate remains camped in the bottom half of the competition.

Trust In Madge

Madge has a plan

Incremental improvement in players, whether in the lower grades or in the NRL is so important. This is an excellent issue you raise and I am looking forward to our players' skills and performances improving both at an individual and team level under Sheens/Farah/Marshall/Furner.

I understand our season was finished in 2022 and you can kiss the bouquet Maguire left for WTs. It was dead, gone and buried before Maguire departed and holding Sheens, Marshall or Farah responsible is nothing more than sour grapes.
After round 3 we were paying $1.01 to miss the 8!!

“Far less” - that’s a stretch

I reckon we’re on a par with the Warriors re who should be most worried.

We've got talent three or four years away and I reckon clubs like Manly or Saints might be about to dive into a hole ... but short term, grab those beads buddy 🥴

Not sure why all the heat on Sheens considering he is starting now and has not even coached a game yet.. I for one am happy to give him the benefit of the doubt until results are in and hope others will.
In that article he brings up some good points and he knows how to turn a club around and done so a few times already. v
The spine of Laurie, Brooks, AD, Api and Hastings is excellent IMO and as we all know we just need more aggressive forwards to create space for them to work. For the few games Hastings was at Lock he seemed to be able to get the best out the forwards we had and that wasn't much.

Sit back and enjoy the ride folks as we are about to move into attack mode and add a little defense.

We were the worst team & just couldn't handle things not going our way.
Other clubs could

We scored the least amount of points and conceded the 2nd most points in the comp.
Teams scored 13.6pts avg more per game than us more than any other team (Warriors 12.1 and didn't play at home for majority of the year)

Every team can say what if's about games this year and would result in 2-3 extra wins for them mixed with luck.

3 wins puts us at best 13th if those teams around us didn't also have that luck, if other teams got luck on their side they also would get more wins.

Middle of the table would require another 8 wins this year that's how far off we were.

If we look at luck and call it a close game result that could've moved our way say within 6pts in it, this is how the bottom 5 teams stack up: Loss/Wins/Total

Tigers - 7/2 = 9 Games
Warriors - 5/3 = 8 Games
Titans - 7/4 = 11 Games
Knights - 3/2 = 5 Games
Bulldogs - 3/3 = 6 Games

Reality is we sucked this year, we were the worst team in the comp and got the spoon.

On to next year and lets hope our attacking formations, new coaching structure, new recruits, injury free run for key players, contracts are signed, our rookies standup and the magical COE all deliver - maybe we can be middle of the table then.

We know your position - but your confidence has nothing to do with the struggles this club has in attracting talent and under the watch of your main man finished the competition in a fashion that was simply embarrassing not making the task any easier when we are competing against other more successful clubs for the same players.
Sadly, the season was already over, and Maguire with his mediocracy and non imaginative players selection/ game plan done everything to won us the spoon. I trust Sheens more than Madge and Ciraldo, the one that never coached the NRL team, and was selected by the Footy show celebrity that never done anything good for the WT.
Finally someone said enough is enough, and we will hopefully see a significant number of players packing, the worst being Brooks, and Nofoaluma, players that had 10+ years to show they deserve to play for the WT!
Brooks's plays in the attack, his short passes and especially short kicks were at under 7s level, and arguably the worst in the NRL!
Nofaluma's defence was by miles the worst defensive player in the NRL, and this weakness was exploited game after game!

Where's our AFB or Reece Walsh?
You don't reckon the Knights should be worried - Winning 2 more games than us with the likes of
Ponga, Frizzell, Gagai, Saifiti x 2 etc.... (That's 5 more current Origin players than us)

It's not a stretch at all.... That's just your poor perception.

Don't disagree.....
Still stand on paper - Our squad is the worst in the comp.

Does it matter? He is 21 years old. Running around for the cowboys Reggie team. Let’s be honest if he is the answer someone has asked an irrelevant question. Might be a nice guy or a complete arsehole I don’t know . But He ain’t the type of signing to turn this club around
Get what your saying, with
Excellent. He's a great talent - tall, very fast and will score a try.
I’m hoping to catch up with him when he gets back! His parents are always at the local coffee shop so I hope I’ll run into him there.
