It’s the fact he would attract other good players on less that makes these deals worthwhile. You balance it out with Lodge type signings.
I hear what your saying.
We still have at least 4 positions to bolster so in tune with what you saying it's a bit like the chicken and the egg.
If Munster signed with us I'd be very happy and I think he could work with AD outside of him in the centres.

He's our first choice 5/8 and he deserves to be in that jersey for a while.

He might need to work on his professionalism though. He fades in and out of games too much and doesn't do too much of the tough stuff. He honestly has all the ability in the world but he's inconsistent from game to game and even within games.

I'd love for him to be the Wighton type player. Just completely own that right edge with Papali'i next year. Pride yourself on your defense, practice your short sides, practice the kick and chase. That R side with potentially Nofoaluma back as well could be our strong point next season.

Nofo doesn't stay on his edge for much of the game lol

We still have too many weaknesses to tie up so much of our cap on one player, 🤔
It’s not a lot of the cap when considering how the cap will increase over a few years. What we don’t want to do is bend it out of shape like Storm are doing, with 5 players on $900k to $1m, but at the same time we want to be seen as a club which rewards on field results.

Got me wondering. Is the minimum wage going up at the same percentage as the cap?

AD doesn't want to play in the centres though, even though hopefully Sheens tells him you play where we tell you to play or leave
I think if Munster signs and we keep AD and Brooks then Munster plays fullback

Great points 20-40, that's why I didn't apply for the job as cap manager.
I know how much having salary cap constraints have ruined us before and now that we are on the good side I don't want to go down that path again.
In life general there is truth behind the saying that one has to go into debt to succeed. Buying a house, setting up a business etc. But there is no better feeling than buying something for cash!

To my way of thinking, it depends on 2 things..the cost of money and how you can put it to work.
It was definitely painful having 30% of our cap watching the games, well at least half of the games.

Starting to look like Munster will go to dolphins in 2024 if so AD may well end up at Storm after next season. Looks like 2023 is going to be a one-off, messed up, stepping stone type season with a lot of changes to follow it also.
Sheens will be looking for a replacement for Papalii as well coz I don’t think we’ve seen the end of that saga. Paps will do anything to back out if he can.

I feel AD is the sort of guy who would take unders to be at Storm than play here.

We'll find out. I'm not sure the Storm will want him and if they do they may value him at a couple hundred grand less than what we are currently paying him.

Always thought AD was pretty committed except when publicly saying he wanted to be a loan player still coming off a big injury 😒

With Bellamy moving on end of next year , muster, papenhuzen maybe medically retired, I think storm are about to see alot of change, maybe less of a powerhouse for next 5 years following 23... Maybe less appealing.

They’ve signed 3 players, one from ESL, one from NZ (?) and Simms from Dragons. With 4 teams in QLD now, perhaps their pathway has been intercepted to some extent? The NRL’s golden child has been replaced. All the money and advantage will now be redirected to the Dolphins.

Yep reward for results that's what we need at this club
