Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Really hope Dragons take on Musgrove
Moses putting aside how he left is a massive upgrade to what we have & is just hitting his prime.
Would take him in an instant over spending $2m + on Hastings/Brooks/AD to stay.

So we have signed squat since Sheens and Benji took over the reigns while other clubs pick off who they want from the current squad.
Admirable to believe you can change things but foolish to think you can pull off what others have failed to do by aiming for the stars while letting other clubs pick the eyes out of what we do have. They need to land a few soon.

A big no to Moses (i hate tankers and cheats and he is both) but would be ok with Mus leaving as he is very inconsistent but the dragons have to take the full contract
NO, we can't keep letting players go unless we are signing other players that would be a upgrade on what we are loosing. Please if you think that our Juniors will be the answer .... that will do me, as we will be doing well if we managed to get 2-3 Juniors that will make a difference in 1st grade, like someone has already said around every 5-7 years we are lucky to get 1 Junior that is top class.
just spend some bloody money and buy 1st grade standard players ....other clubs are doing this, that's a surprise.

My understanding is any player can receive a third party payment from a company up to any amount providing said company isn’t a direct affiliate of the club.

This is where the big clubs with strong corporate partners have a HUGE advantage. For example the Roosters and Uncle Nicks business partners, South’s and Packer/Crowe/Cannon-Brookes and the new partnership between the Bulldogs and Laundy Hotels.

All of these very well connected owners and major sponsors can arrange TPA’s from their wide network of business partners because those third party businesses aren’t direct sponsors of the club.
Thats still illegal if they in any way encourage someone else to organise a TPA - almost impossible to prove that they had any involvement and why the whole TPA system needs an overhaul. Apparently the NRL reckons they tightened the rules and a lot of this has been stopped. The bigger issue is under the table payments and brown paper bags.

We got a coe now
Plenty of tables available for bags to be passed under

I know someone very high up at the Storm and 100% they use business connections to get alot of additional $$ to players outside the cap. He knows how to manage $$$ around books better than anyone.
It’s very much who you know.

Let’s hope Lee being connected pays off for us finally. We do actually have alot of wealth within our fans but those that have wealth don’t often associate to weakness/heart investments.
Hi do you know much about the land around East leagues club Uncle Nick has been buying it up for years and leaving it in a trust the whole block so long after he is gone East will have income and assets could you use a trust to pay TPAs ?

Benji Marshall faces the first crucial test of his leadership and diplomacy skills in coming weeks.

Benji is keen to bring local junior Mitchell Moses back to the Tigers from Parramatta and sees him as the answer to the club's play-making problems.

But some senior officials at the Tigers don't want Moses back - he wasn't a good fit at the club in his first stint there and he isn't a popular figure with Tigers players.

Only a few weeks back, he took a blatant dive when barely touched by Tigers debutant Justin Matamua, who was promptly sent to the sin bin and placed on report … and subsequently cleared.

Benji must weigh-up the other aspects that go into signing a player besides ability - the great coaches mould teams built on harmony and comradeship as well as talent.

Moses, meanwhile, has put talks with the Eels on hold until after the club finishes its playing commitments, and there is a big chance he will head to the November 1 negotiations deadline day unsigned.

Dragons eye Tigers prop

The Dragons are keen to sign Tigers prop Zane Musgrove for next season.
Musgrove is on contract at Concord for two more years but the Tigers may let him go to the Big Red V if the two clubs can do a deal.

The Dragons are desperate for more size up front - they lost Daniel Alvaro to French club Toulouse mid-year and Tariq Sims (Melbourne) and Josh McGuire (Warrington) at the end of the season.

To date, they have yet to sign a player for 2023 and there are few big men on the market, hence their interest in Musgrove.

Weird take on Moses.

When there is money involved there is corruption. If anyone doesn't believe that, they have their head in the sand.
The person with the most money tends to have the most influence.
We are a TAB, Sports Bet sport. Big on advertising and gambling because the game is now designed for television.
Sponsors and those who provide huge TPAs don't usually give money away just because they like the club, their is usually some sort of kickback. There would be some exceptions if course.
Our chairman has a lot to do with horse racing. 😉

We have two props that have an impact - Stef and Musgrove. I hope we don't let him go.

Moses is a really good player but I don't want him here especially on marquee dollars.

ok musgrove is no gun but we have very little size as it is and we are thinking of letting him go , who the HELL is going to do the dirty work , some 19 year olds , we need more size not less
No one is good enough for this team yet are good enough for better teams! The logic is bordering delusional..

If Dragons will take Musgrove, that will be our best news all week. Seriously this guy offers nothing that his size should. Andrew Fifita for 1 year would be 10 times better than Musgrove for leadership, mentorship, not missing tackles & impact for 20 mins. C'mon Tigers, get it done!

I am all in favour of spending money to upgrade the squad but don't have much faith in Sheens getting it right but hope he does.Musgrave is not really a loss as he is very inconsistent and only seems to put in when the team is going well.As far as our juniors are concerned it will take at least 2-3 years before we get a couple up to standard for regular first grade as there is a huge gap between the grades.
I have said it many times and will continue in the same fashion but our focus needs to be on our pigs and making them stronger, you can get by with a weaker backline if your forwards are strong but a strong backline will never do anything if your forwards are weak.

Hate Winners too?
He's a top 5 Half in the comp - And probably better than what we have.

Funny how he's "unpopular at the club" - Is that because he's been tearing us a new arsehole since he left (Bar twice... Maybe)
Is there even anyone left at the club that would know him?
Pascoe, Brooks, Nofoaluma.... Vince?
That's about it I'd reckon.

In the past week we have had people say they wouldn't want Tedesco, Munster or Moses - we must be flying!

Done with Musgrove. Has like 3 good games a year. Rest of the time he's either injured, suspended or being the worst prop on the field.

He's no gun, But he's also playing in a super ordinary team....
He offers something a bit different to the likes of Stefano, Twal and Pole...
Improve the team 10-20% you probably find you improve Musgrove enough to want him around.

Props never used to come on until 27-28 they used to say - There's the exception to the rule obviously....
He's no starter, But I wouldn't be letting him go unless we're signing much, much better.
Especially if it's going to cost us.
Dragons are a weird one, They seem to be only signing players they can get with another club chipping in.

Hindsight tells us not many players in the squad progressed for the last few years
- Musgrove was out for a year before that...
I'm holding at this point.

ps: It's really tiring having most here assuming these "Kids" (most know nothing about)
are going to teach themselves the riggors of NRL.
